I got a 9 month old golden and he is forever biting at his feet

This is just not a problem with Goldens, many dogs do it. The most common reasons are allergies and stress. Look for other signs of allergies like runny eyes or nose or has a rash somewhere. If there are none, I would say it is stress. Either way you can try an antihistamine like Benadryl. If that does not work see the vet.

I have several reasons and/or theories for this cause.

1. If you notice on a puppy they have pink paws that are much softer than the black paws they get when they are older. The black is a much more protective skin and tighten around the paws causing irritation.

2. It may be a sign of stress on your pet.

3. Allergies which would lead to Number Two.

Most likely allergies, which Goldens are known to be prone to.
Take him to see a vet or veterinary dermatologist soon to find the cause, as allergies will worsen with age.
