The people of Ireland killing one another (of opposing faiths/beliefs) are not following their true beliefs; they are fighting for reasons such as oppression, enforced famine; all of these are more to do with the failure to follow one's beliefs and to act as a true human.

The Crusades were more to do with money and power, land and control than the actual religions. People are sinful and therefore may and do abuse or misuse GOD's name for their own purposes.

All religions are not peaceful. Islam preaches to live by the sword and to spread it by any means possible. Jews (Israel) only believe in Old Testament teachings, where God is vengeful. And according to Christians, the Crusades were a mistake. And Tony Blair and George Bush using Christianity as a shield for one they're evil, and only provokes more hatred.

Good question. USA has been involved in war has been mostly due to an act of aggression; sinking of a ship lead to Spanish American war and WW1 Then there was Pearl Harbor,WWII, the Civil War[USA] Revolutions USA,and Russian, War with Mexico, Texas Independance and of course The French Revolution. just to name a few. When the Jews returned to their "homeland" religion became a factor, a Jewish State in a moslem region spelled trouble, and trouble it has been.

Well, I think its because religion is something that everyone has in one way or another. People hold thier religions very highly and will die for them. They believe that if thier religion is being infringed on in anyway then they have to set up a defense by fighting. That is my opinion.

Read 1984 by George Orwell. It's not specifically about religion, but it's all the same nonetheless.
