Yeah, I can just see this police statement. "The suspects left the scene in a car" Reporter "What color and kind of car?" Police "Sorry not allowed to tell you that. Just know that we are looking for a car."

Not long I wouldn't have thought. Over here (UK) it's quite normal for the media to 'omit to mention' a persons colour when describing wanted criminals, suspects etc.
Maybe in time it will be considered sexist, ageist, heightest, weightest etc etc when describing anyone and the news reports will carry requests for the public to inform the police if they see a person who may be male or female or neither or both and could be tall or short or anywhere in between and might be black, white or any other colour and is perhaps overweight, maybe underweight or is neither over or underweight and may or may not have been wearing clothes and might not have done anything wrong anyway.

Its depends what you mean. If they are using it to track down a certain person well then yes its important, its part of what the guy looks like. But if its just looking at someone and saying they must be a criminal or whatnot because they are that color, lets go harrass him, then thats completely wrong and needs more laws to prevent it.

Amen, on the ACLU. Strange that you should say that, because under the war powers act of 1933 makes all people criminals. That is a deep subject, Friend.

Well, if they're looking for a criminal, color/race is very important. It is needed to track people better, believe it or not, color is one of the first things people notice, because it covers your whole body.

Your question is not clear.
Color identifies. There fore it is important. Would you want to be arrested because you met all the data except the perp's color?
I didn't think so.

That will never happen. Even the ACLU can't stop it.
