There are no set rules for how old a child needs to be to do anything. Every child is different in their self confidence and maturity levels. If your child has spent time away from home before with relatives, or whatnot and that passed without incident, I would say it would be fine. Worst case scenario (assuming you really do know the family well) is that your 5 year old decides to come home. You should make sure your child knows that it is okay to change their minds, that its a new experience and no one really knows how they will react to something until they do it. If your child comes home, resist the temptation to over baby...it will usually only confirm the fears they had in the first place. They will let you know when they are ready to try it again.

It's definitely ok to allow a five year old to sleep over at a friends house... especially if you know the family to be good, trustworthy people. Your son is old enough to let you know if any problems arise and he can always come home if he changes his mind. Your just next door!

If he's too young, he'll let you know by calling you to come pick him up. Most kids do this several times before they feel comfortable enough to spend the night away from home. Just make sure you stick around your house so you can bring him home if you need to.

Absolutely. If you know the parents well, it's fine. It's right next door, so if he gets scared being away from home, it's not hard to get back. You trust the people and he'll have fun.

be sure you not save your mouth close. so some distance as i'm in touch, whilst it includes the welfare of a toddler, it rather is unquestionably everyone's employer. that's a terrible tale and it needs to be stated. you may desire to call the police or social provider. a lot of instances however (a minimum of in my state) social centers provide a take-heed call to the mother and dad, so the mother and dad save the toddler out of the canines residing house till the mother and dad themselves are out of the canines residing house, as a thank you to talk. Then they pass back to their previous procedures. So if I have been you, next time you spot this occurring, i could call the police superb suited away. and probably throw in a call to social centers. yet, save on with it and make confident that that damaging toddler would not ought to spend yet another night freezing interior the canines residing house. good luck and good finding out! :)

at age five day playing with friends is enough. sleeping over usually comes at school age around 2nd grade. Outside of close relatives I am uncomfortable saying yes to such a young age. They have all day to play with their friend so they aren't losing out.

My son was 5 at his first sleepover.
As long as you don't think someone in the house is a pedophile and the kids there aren't abused, it'll be a lot of fun!

If you know and TRUST the parents with YOUR life then i dont see a problem with letting him sleep over. The parents should call you when he falls asleep and 1st thing in the morning.

Well, he would be just next door and they could bring him home if he got upset in the night, which is an advantage.
It's hard though, isn't it? One minute they're babies and the next they want to have sleep-overs.
Good luck
