Absolutely, but I really don't think I'm that good at it, but it is so much fun to watch. My favorite exercise is "Park Bench". There is one person sitting on a bench in a park and he is the ODD person with some problem (like schizophrenia, paranoia, narcolepsy, agitation, hyper, mentally deranged, or overly talkative, etc.) another "normal person" walks up and asks to sit. They develop a conversation or some kind of interaction until the "normal" person is either driven away, freaked out, too uncomfortable, etc. This is so much fun. I've seen people impersonate celebrities, characters from horror movies, and local scaries from the news. Try it out. It's a lot of fun.

I'm a jazz musician, and I use improvisation everyday in my music. Check out the book "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Soloing and Improvisation" and "The Jazz Language" by Hurle
Good Luck!

I love to improvise and it's better when you have experienced musicians to work with so you can change the dynamics with only a gesture. We used to play a version of Purple Haze which lasted about 30 minutes and employed many techniques including tempo changes, changes in volume, and exploration into different scale patterns and such.

We have a band, we perform 3 nights a week and we play improvised rock music in gigs. I believe its the real freedom in performing. Audience love it too. We usually adapt the folk songs into rock music with improvisations.

Another female actor/singer and I were once challenged to sing an improv verison of "Frankie & Johnny" with our own life experiences - incorporating other members of the company into the song - we went on for AGES - we were actually stopped and told 'Okay, you've proved your point'.
It was FAB!

When playing FAIRY FLOPDOODLE at the age of UMPTITY UMP, in panto, during the intermission with DAISY the cow, fear makes you do extraordinary things, tap dancing and telling jokes and getting off with the Lord Mayer of Northampton! Brilliant fun.
