Atheists make up about 10% of the American population and only 0.2% of the prison population.
Christians make up about 70% of the American population and 70% of the prison population.

Many people who can't discern right from wrong find it useful to adopt a prescribed system of morals and ethics in order to rehabilitate their deviant ways, and fit into society. So, for the purpose of learning how to act like a mature grown-up, you are correct, Christianity can be an effective, though limited, antidote to arrested social development.
People who function in society without any instructions from a "higher power" (such as atheists), have generally discovered the power to discern right from wrong lies in themselves in the form of principles. If you substituted the words Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny for the words God and Jesus in the bible, the lessons you've learned would still be valid.
You might be interested to learn that thousands of years before Christianity or Jesus came along, the foundations of ethical living (right and wrong) were laid by the Greeks, and the concepts became more formalized and widely adopted by the third largest, and possibly oldest religion in the world, Hinduism. People were "mending their ways" long before Christ. In fact, more massacres have probably been committed in the name of Lord Jesus than in all other religions combined.
Irregardless of how you did it, I commend you on becoming a "good" person.
(wow, this is one "unique" individual... take a look at the pic of him and his buddies on his Yahoo 360 page. These are some unhappy looking faces!)

Too bad Jesus didn't help you learn how to spell better. Also, I don't accept that you were gay then magically developed feelings for members of the opposite sex...that's an extraordinary claim considering the poor success rates religious groups have had in making gays straight. If you were gay you probably still are and just repressing your sexuality and that's why you have yet to get married.

It's people like you who give Christian's a bad name!
I am a Christian and I am totally embarrassed by your remarks.
I want no part of you!
Lose the pride and start showing some humility, grace, love and compassion.........
We are all sinners saved by grace
Take the beam out of your own eye before you take the splinter out of your brother's!
Shame on you!!! Readers of this thread, not all Christians are like this!!

Well, maybe you ought to consider that females might think it is important that their partner be able to spell above a 3rd grade level, and have the ability to form an actual sentence. Your religious delusions are probably somewhat less important.

how do you know it was god and not the devil? Because the true Christians, the ones who wrote the bible, were originally homosexuals. And the devil causes straightness. That is why marriage was developed, to ward off the evil of heterosexual sex, and hallow the grounds of their house so that sex could be performed in peace without the devil. So in truth, homosexuals are the only true followers of gods word, peace.

The trouble with parodies of Christian nutters is that the Christian nutters are every bit as crazy as the parody, so it can be very difficult to tell the difference.
Which are you?

By non-believers do you mean agnostics? An agnostic doesn't
believe in the existence or non existence of God, while an atheist
simply believes there is no God. No offense meant, but you don't
sound all that "normal" to me.
