I've been to (and thrown) a million bridal and baby showers, and let me tell you. . . everyone hates shower games. You should do a craft instead. One idea is to get a bunch of cheap white onsies in all different sizes (newborn to 3 or 4T) and have everyone decorate them. You can either get fabric paints or do tie-dying. That way mom gets a ton of onsies decorated by all her favorite people. Another idea is to have everyone do a scrapbook page for your sister. They can put down words of advice on motherhood, quick recipies for tired moms, pictures, or whatever they like. You would just need to get pretty paper, stickers, and pens.

As far as food goes. . . it depends on the time. If it's in the morning, a breakfast buffet works well. Bagels and cream cheese, individual yogurt, fruit, and one hot dish (maybe an egg strata). If it's later in the day but not during meal times, I would put out sandwich fixings along with fruit, vegetables, chips, and maybe cake.

Good luck, and congratulations on being an aunt!

Always plan for extra that way you won't run out of food. If many people don't show up then you can snack on the leftovers! Just have a cute baby shower cake made and make some finger foods. Like spinach dip and crackers or cucumber & creamcheese sandwiches. Yum !

Just search Yahoo or google for babyshower games and you'll find some good games. That's where we found the games at the last shower we did. Good luck!

These are soooooooooo good:

PARTY CREAM CHEESE PINWHEELS

10 large flour tortillas
2 boxes of cream cheese
1 cup pitted black olives, finely chopped
2 tablespoons pimentos, finely chopped
1 pkg ranch dressing
2 tablespoons green jalapenos, finely chopped

Soften cream cheese Mix in the powdered Ranch dressing Add the pimentos, black olives and the jalapenos.
Spread evenly over the flour tortillas using a rubber spatula. Roll tightly. Cover and chill for about one hour. Slice into pinwheels.

I don't know how many people will show up. It's August and some people are on vacation. So, I don't know. I would hope at least 40. That's a big party for a baby shower.

You can find lots of games online, just do a google search "baby shower games"

I was at a shower recently that was 11:00A.M. and they served crepes. They offered different kinds of toppings and it was a huge success.

Make sure you don't plan so many games that people don't have time to visit. If all of your guests come maybe it will be a little difficult to manage.

Pass around a book for people to write sentiments to your sister and her child. The baby will like that when he/she is older.

sounds like a reliable present to me! i could merely examine the expiration dates on the nutrition to make confident it is going to likely be in a position for use at the same time as the recent little ones are previous adequate! i have regifted infant stuff too, truly what you describe is my regularly happening infant bathe present plus any more effective coupons, samples, ect that I actually have laying round. I many times comprise a number of my popular products like the diaper rash cream that i appreciate and the suited nail clippers i have found, ect. i favor to position in something for the recent momma too, like a delightful lotion or some fuzzy slipper socks to positioned on on the chilly, slippery clinical institution flooring. have relaxing on the showers and do not stress about the presents and keep in recommendations presentation is 1/2 the present, a lovable basket which may be reused contained in the nursery is a good base for filling with low-cost yet functional presents!

We just had a baby shower for my sis.... there was this fun game with ice cubes you buy little plastic babies and you freeze them and who ever ice cube melts first and the baby breaks through is the winner of a prize! As far as food goes we had finger sandwiches, chips, pasta salad, barbecue meatballs, of course the cake, ginger ale with ice cream sorbet in it. Here is a website with baby shower ideas!

there are some pretty good sugestions for food already, but a game that my mom played for my sis-n-law was "dirty diaper".
she took some disposable diapers, and in them she had mashed a peanut butter cup, another one some strained peas, etc, and everybody tries to get what the "baby" ate, kinda gross, but very fun
