I have dark brown hair about 5 or 6 inches past my shoulders. It's thick and straight, except for a few waves here and there. I'm growing my bangs out. I've had these bangs all my life, so naturally, they were waaaay out of style. They were very thick, too. Now, I part them to the side, and they're different lengths because, well, you get it. Now they've grown down to my nose. I thought I might get some long layers and take a few inches off, but I'm not sure. I have to be able to pull it back, plus I can only style it on special occasions, and I would rarely use heat on it. Pictures or a detailed description would be appreciated.

hmmm i would recommend layers .. depending on your face shape .. i could also recommend doing it like Rachel (Aniston) in Friends .. earlier seasons :P or same shape but maybe bit longer .. especially that u have thick hair, it should look nice :)

Your hair sounds beautiful as it is!! Don't cut it! If you must cut it, layers will probably look nice.

if you really want a different look you can cut it on short layers.

Go bald then you won't have to worry about getting a hair cut :-)
