here's what i found out.
BLANCHE. Blanche instantly evokes its own stereotype, that of the classic faded Southern belle, Ã la Blanche DuBois (A Streetcar Named Desire) and Blanche Devereaux (The Golden Girls). Originally a nickname for a blonde (it means "white" in French), Blanche was extremely popular a century ago, and some upscale parents are beginning to look at it again as a more plainspoken alternative to Bianca. BLANCHETTE is another more feminine, French version.
sorry if this is not what you are looking for. but that is the most i found out for the name Blanchette.

From what research I have done, the name could very well be of French origin. If you have a specific name you could go to either the Ellis Island site, the SSDI site, genealogy.com. If you would like some assistance, I would be glad to try for you. cmatacc@yahoo.com

Well, blanche has something to do with the color white. So, my guess would be that the last name has something to do with white. Maybe pure white or as white as....
that is what I am getting.
