30 Million Germans can't be wrong.. oh wait, I think its 1 Billion Muslims can't be wrong.. Or was it Hundreds of Millions of Christians can't be wrong... I forget. Maybe it was Mormons that couldn't be wrong.
With all these beliefs running around picking one and having it be the correct one is hard to decide. Who says one has it right and the others are wrong, or they all have it wrong. I think most religions are based off the same principles.
Bottom line, Crowd control. All religion has ever done throughout human history is to be a tool to control the masses, usually with fear that they have to do right by the word in order to have a chance at the after-life. Also throughout human history, the keepers of the word have usually been the biggest breakers of the rules.
There are many different factions of the same religion, in the different religions because someone decided they had a better way to do things, they changed a few things and now control a different portion of a population. Many governments in the early 13-16th centuries created state sponsored religions in order to help control their populations. Fear is a strong motivator.
If any of it was true, their would have always been religion in the form we see today, and not formed over a hundred years after the death of Jesus...
Poeple learn their faith through their parents mostly, same as they learn most everything else.
The Bible is the greatest story ever told, or the Greatest story ever sold, depending on your view.
I think with all the options I have at picking and chooseing my god, I can't possibly be wrong for chooseing one over another. If there truely is a god, he will love me for what I am and what I do regardless of how I choose to believe. If I am Christian, and god is not, will I be punished? What if I choose the Muslim faith, and that is equally wrong. Its a win-win or lose-lose situation.
If we truely are children of god, why do most religions favor the Male over the Female? Shouldn't both be equal in the eyes of our creator? We are not, because God is a creation of Man, not the other way around.
Faith is an easy thing to say. Have faith, those with out faith, faith is a belief in something you cannot prove... I'm just as justified in saying that until God is proved to exist, he does not. People of faith have the perfect backdrop to God's existence. No proof, no need of proof, no desire to prove... he's just there.
God gets the credit whenever something good happens, and is thanked when someone doesn't die in an accident or natural disaster. How do they know they were the target of God in that disaster and God missed? If he spared you from death, why is he not just as responsible for the disaster and all the deaths as he is for saving someone?

The bible is a book of history and it has been proven to be factual.
Years ago they questioned everysingle line in it and found that it was very accurate. It was harmonous and inspired.
Read Deutronomy 23:12,13 hygene we never knew about germs and infection until this century.. but when the rest of the world didn't know the jews did.
Isaiah 40:22 sitting above the circle of the earth. Everyone in those days believed the earth was flat.
Wanted to take that out.
Job 26:7 Hanging the earth upon nothing. All the people around them believe the earth was riding on something. propped up on the shoulders of a God. Made fun of the bible because of that passage. There are hundreds more. Who Knew this things?

Historical evidence.
It is historical fact that Jesus lived, and if you look at the dead sea scrolls, you will find prophesies about Jesus in them, prophesies that he fulfilled.
The Bible is the most historically accurate book ever written. There are thousands of copies of it from ancient times, that all agree with each other on all important points. The basic wording in a few might be differant such as "the eye of a needle" verses "the eye of a surgeons needle" but the message is the same.
In the end though, it is faith. If there is no God, and you believe in Him anyway, then when you die, that's it, and your beliefe did you no harm. If there is a God though, and you don't believe in Him, then when you die you are screwed, because you rejected Him when He gave you all the evidence you needed to belive in Him.

The literature of ancient cultures consists mainly of myths and fables. Their stories often use actual geographical locations and place names, but unless there is some independent historical or archaeological evidence, characters and events are usually fictional.
See for example the book: THE BIBLE UNEARTHED by Silberman & Finkelstein (a historian and an archaeologist).

Well myself personally I don't get into religion I believe in god and in Jesus but not a particular religion and over the years people have altered and came up with their own versions of beliefs So there is no answer really to your question it just all boils down to faith.

You use a lot of rhetoric and aren't saying much of anything. God is the same He was yesterday and a million years ago. People seem to complicate the concept because a lack of knowledge and faith. People believe in God because of faith, no science needed. Faith is obtained through experience and a quest to resolve questions.

And it seems a lot of people rationalize their belief in their religion by quoting their so called "holy book" to prove it is the "correct" religion. All seems like circular reasoning to me. I don't adhere to any religion. Who is to say what is fiction and non-fiction? I don't think anybody can. But personally, I believe it is all fiction. What anybody wants to believe is fine with me.

It is all really up to you.
I myself believe in God. I have brought him into my heart, and I know that He has many plans for my life. I know that He created me, and everything in the the world! But that is just because I have seen miracles happen, I have learned from the Bible ever since I was born. I have faith in Him, and I know for a fact that He is real. I love J.C!! Wohoo!!

Anon is correct.
Christianity, like most other religions, was forced on people at the point of a sword. Believe or die is a fairly compelling argument to believe.

AThe ancients worshipped the sun because for them it meant life. Later, other folks realized that someone made the sun..they called him God. If you don't believe in God, then why not worship the sun...because if the sun dies, you are also dead,
