average height girls (5'5"-5'7) in late teens or early 20s, is it true that every 10 lbs you gain or lose amount to a pant size?
ex. 135-145= size 10, 125-135= size 8 pants? does that sound about right? I know it varies by muscle and fat densities, build, etc... but I need general averages for a paper.

145-155= size 10
135-145= size 8
125-135= size 6

But really all depends on height and everyone is different!

I've fluctuated twenty pounds and kept the same pants. Currently, i'm 135lbs and a size 6. So I would not generalize in the way you are suggesting.

Instead, why not base the generalization on hip circumference?

seems like the sizes are a little to big for the weights you're comparing them to should be more like 125-135= size 6

Yes that is about right. I was a 10 and weighed 140. I am also 5'11. But the waist is the same.

I have fluctuated 30lbs on and off and still in the same size so I guess it depends on the person....??
