Here's the real deal:
Melt 3tbsp butter in a pan, on low heat.
Add 3tbsp white flour, and cook stirring constantly for about 3 minutes, untill light golden.
Add 2 cups of milk at room temperature, 1/2 cup parmesan, some white pepper and a pinch of nutmeg.
Et voila!

Here's a great one. 5 out of 5 stars. No supemarket brand tastes as good as this.

Fettucine Alredo V

INGREDIENTS:
10 ounces fettuccini pasta
1/2 cup butter
5 cloves garlic, chopped
1 cup heavy cream
1 egg yolk
2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons dried parsley

DIRECTIONS:
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add fettucine pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
In a large skillet melt the butter and add the chopped garlic. Cook on low for about 5 minutes, stirring often, making sure not to burn the garlic.
Pour about a 1/4 cup of the heavy cream into a small bowl. Add the egg yolk and beat together; put aside. Pour the remaining cream into the frying pan. Increase the heat to medium-high. As the cream starts to boil, mix rapidly using a whisk. Slowly add the cream/egg mixture. You do not want the egg to curdle. Continue whisking until well blended.
Add 1 cup of the Parmesan cheese and continue to mix the cream. Pour in the remaining Parmesan and the parsley, mix until smooth. Immediately remove from stove. Serve over cooked pasta.

I serve it with some nice crusty Italian bread, a plate of antipasto and, of course, a nice Chianti.

Good luck and good eating.

Yeah, get some alfredo sauce at your local market, cook your pasta aldente (kinda firm but chewable...approximately 12 minutes at full boil) and add some sauteed shrimp or some broccoli, or both and you have a lovely alfredo dish!
Be sure to add a little garlic powder while you sautee your shrimp or veg.
Then garnish with some chopped parsley to give it a little color.
Make sure you have salt and pepper and a shaker with parmesan for anyone who wants it.
Serve with french bread which has been topped with mozzarella and garlic powder. Tanned more than browned.
Oh, I wish I was having supper with you tonight if you can pull it off as I've described it!!!

My favorite dish, which I make all the time
Chunk chicken and sautee' with a bit of Ginger, salt pepper, and cilantro.
right before chicken is done add small bag of frozen broccolli florets, put lid on and let cook on low while you
boil your penne pasta.
Pick up two jars of either kinds/flavors of Alfredo or parmessian (any white sauce found where spagetti sauce is located)
Add to drained penne pasta, then add chicken/broccolli when broccolli is tender.
Mix well and serve with texas garlic cheese toast
Very good!
