Let me ask you this god gave us the 10 comandments these are our set fourth rules. If I follow these rules and live a rightous life then why do I have to accept Jesus as the Messiah? I look at it like this those are others words and over the years it has been changed and retyped and changed and changed some more. So I believe that Jesus was a wonderful person but I sturggle with him being God. And if i pray to God and worship god and accept god then why am I going to hell, because if Jesus is God then what is the diffrence? Why not Moses or Abraham or someone who was great. WHY?

Don't let ignorant people scare you with junk religious theories, the Bible is just a man-made play script, with several actors God, Devil, Jesus, Satan, Adam, Eve etc, and of course some intriguing imaginary places like Heaven, Hell, Purgatory and Limbo.

I certainly don’t believe in the Bible and I doubt any reasonably intelligent person would either. However, if you view the Bible as a man-made play script, with several actors God, Devil, Jesus, Satan, Adam, Eve, Noah, and so on, then you can certainly start to see a clever interwoven plot, that the audience is unaware of. It’s really just a drama thriller with clever twists.

You see, if you seriously think about it in an unbiased manner, then clearly the actor God in the Bible could really be the Devil, and the audience (religious believers) are being sucked into being the bad guys, who then use religion to get everyone fighting each other.

On the other hand, the more intelligent audience (Atheists) spot the plot and try their best to teach believers that this is just nonsense, stop getting sucked in. Some people have over time decided that the play is real. That's very sad.

The Bible is really just a fake story, perhaps a bit like the Loch Ness monster tales.

When we pass on information to another (example: story, joke, description of something etc) by the time these details are passed on by word of mouth, interpreted by others, and then written down, the final details are typically quite different than the original information.

Since the Bible is just a man-made story passed down over many years in various forms, the chance of it being accurate in any shape or form is remote.

There are people who swear blind that the Loch Ness monster exists regardless of all the evidence to the contrary, but a fence post bobbing up and down in the Loch does the trick. Similarly there are people who swear blind that God exists and the Bible is fact, yet there isn’t one blind bit of evidence to support such theories.

Biblical tales are really no different than Loch Ness monster tales, just the era is different.

To answer the first question, can you really live a "righteous life"? What standard is that by? Who is righteous? Unless you think your perfect, I'm sure you've made some mistakes in your life. God set the standard as perfection. That may seem steep, but don't you want a perfect heaven?
If you believe Jesus was a wonderful man, then why would he lie about being God. Some people say he didn't, but that isn't true. Jews in that time never spoke the word Yahweh, which stands for God, but Jesus used several other methods to indicate he was God. He said "I am" which was a name of God. He forgave sins, which only God can do. When someone said he was good, he said that only God is good.
Jesus was not like Moses and Abraham. They both sinned at one time or another. (look it up)
You need Jesus' perfect life to give you that righteousness which we were talking about.
Look at the books the Case for Christ, or the Case for Faith by Lee Strobel. I think they both have student editions also if you wanted.

You're getting there. The 10 commandments are a very strong foundation for all of Christianity. Sure there are translations, but the idea from the original Hebrew is the same. The thing is, Jesus is Lord and Savior. He came down to earth and died for our sins. All have fallen short, I have. Before He came and died, the way to pay for our sins was through a sacrifice, but when He came, He changed it all. Now, instead of having to burn an animal, I confess my sins, acknowledge it, ask for forgiveness, and believe that He has taken care of it. Moses and Abraham were great men of God, but God is God. He's made everything and knows all. Moses and Abraham, and many others, were great men, great leaders of God's people, but not God.

first . Jesus never was the lord "neither god nor the son of god" even in Bible and there are many contradictions in it because it has been altered many times !and written by normal men "Unfortunately" second

How many Jesuses are there in the Bible?
"Although Matthew 1:21 interprets the name (originally Joshua, that is Yahweh is salvation) and finds it especially appropriate for Jesus of Nazareth, it was a common one at the time. Josephus, the Jewish historian, refers to 19 different persons by that name." (Encyclopedia Americana, Jesus, 1959)

Most would answer this question easily by stating that there is only one Jesus in the Bible. But, the fact is that the Bible is full of characters bearing the same name.

Jesus is not the original name of the prophet who brought the New Testament. It is a transliteration of Joshua. The same name can be found as Hosea, Hoshea, Jehoshuah, Jeshua, Jeshuah, Osea and Oshea (See: Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible). These names are mentioned hundreds of times in the Old Testament. They are all different spellings of the same word which means "Yahweh is salvation."

But, Matthew 1:21 tries to create a human-god out of a transliteration inconsistency:

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

Besides, there is more than one Christ (Anointed) in the Bible. Isa 45:1; 1Sa 24:6,10; 26:9-23; Nu 3:3 are few examples.

Related Questions: 1. According to the Bible, Jesus is a common name. Then, why do you try to make it unique by spelling it differently? 2. "Christ (Anointed)" is used for many. Do you still claim that "Christ" is unique?

yes Christ was unique and wonderful prohpet but the problem is that you can't trust Bible while it was written by normal men !

I think that is between you and God.

If you read the old testament, it tells how God's people used to sacrifice young healthy animals and offer there bodies to God because they were considered pure, and their blood would cleanse them of their sins.
You cannot be close to God if you sin, which we all do.
Jesus was God's son, he lived without sin and was considered pure, like the young animals or lambs people used to sacrifice. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice, and all people who repent and ask Jesus into their hearts will have eternal life in heaven. The Bible says accepting Jesus is the only way you'll get to heaven.

But like I said, those are my beliefs, you need to pray and figure out what you believe. Yahoo answers is ok to start, but you should find your own answers through prayer.

AND for you athiests, scientists have found alot of evidence supporting events in the Bible.. but whatever, God only asks that we tell you about him and his son, whether you accept it or not, that's your problem.

Jesus died for ur sins that so that you will not go to hell and he has redeemed you from the curse of the laws. If you can't accept Jesus as God or see him as the only way, the truth, and the light then I feel sorry for you because it is the truth. Jesus said also that "No man cannot enter into the kingdom of God unless he be born again" or of the Holy Spirit.

According to the Christian religion, the plan is that

(1) First 'God' decided what sin is, some of which makes sense (killing, stealing) and some of which doesn't (masturbation, being gay). 'He' demanded strict adherence to 'his' laws, and also demanded to be worshiped and adored continuously just because 'he' is what 'he' is.

(2) Then 'God' created a place of eternal fire and endless suffering into which he could toss every soul who displeased 'him'. And instead of zapping the so-called "Satan" from the get-go, 'God' decided to let him hang around and make humans miserable and maybe even entice them to hell. You know, that would be like a mother knowing that there's a child molester in the neighborhood and turning her back while her children play in his yard.

(3) 'God' decided to send a messenger, 'his' son, knowing in advance that Jesus would be rejected by 'his' chosen people and would be killed by them (all of this is according to Christian belief). Although 'God' knew this would happen and apparently wanted it to happen, that didn't stop 'him' from getting in a snit about it, changing the rules, and deciding never to openly communicate with mankind again.

(4) 'God' next decided that everyone would have to believe that Jesus was 'his' son and died and came back from the dead -- nothing else in the human life experience would have any importance whatsoever.

(5) All that earlier business about being good and not sinning was drastically modified by 'God' -- 'he' changed ''his' mind; you could be mean and hurt people and do all kinds of terrible things and still win 'his' favor. All anyone had to do was simply believe in Jesus and that person, no matter how many lives he had destroyed, would be saved from hell and frolic happily hereafter in heaven.

(6) And now, after Jesus had come to be killed by the same people 'God' had chosen as 'his' own (all according to Christianity) morality no longer had any real importance -- since believing in Jesus is all there is -- all that's necessary to be saved. That means that no matter how good, decent, charitable, loving and moral you are, no matter how many lives you touched in positive ways, 'God' wants you to be in agony for all eternity, if you don't believe Jesus was 'his' son.

This is how Christians see 'God'.

From my point of view as a Reincarnationist, what Christians *fail* to see is that their irrational and superstitious beliefs slander and villianize the true God, who is perfection way, way beyond that counterfeit characterization of God in the bible.

Reincarnation is the Rosetta Stone that opens one's eyes to the perfection of the cosmos and God.

The idea that anyone can "die for" anyone else's "sins" is patently ludicrous.

The Ten Commandments were a preparation. Jesus Christ is the REAL THING.

The Ten Commandments were given to Moses to give to a people who had fallen away from the true worship of God and had become idolaters - worshipping false Gods. They did not know the true God, and needed to be trained in holiness so that they could come to know Him again.

Jesus Christ is the God they were meant to come to know.

So, why do you have to believe in Jesus in order to go to heaven? Because Jesus IS heaven. If you don't know Him, you can't experience heaven...

Kristig79,You don'thave to believe in Jesus, I prayed directly to God for some one to show me the truth,God sent me a christed being and I experienced every thing through him that one is supposed to experience through Jesus,I do not degrade Jesus for my teacher gave me the experience that MY teacher, myself,Jesus and God are one. Jesus is all that people say and more. There are many christed sons of God. Just get still and from a pure heart pray that God will send you one. I pray that YOU find God leading you along your spiritual pathway. Whistle britches. P S the ten commandments were for the times of moses , Jesus said I give you one commandment LOVE GOD with all your heart and all your might and another like unto it LOVE thy neighbor as thyself. if you LOVE GOD and your neighbor how could you break or even need the ten commandments.
