MIXES???
ARE YOU TOTALLY daft???
You can NEVER predict MUTTS/MONGRELS!!! That's the WHOLE POINT OF PUREBRED dogs!

Especially since ANYBODY who'd MAKE MUTTS ON PURPOSE already HAS an ethics problem & could lie about the MUTT/mix as easily as they'll SCAM you into PAYING for one!

Go to the AKC site & READ the BREED STANDARDS for those in the TOY GROUP!!
ONLY purebred dogs can be EXPECTED to conform predictably!!

It all depends on your lifestyle. If you want a mix, and don't care if it's a purebreed, go to your local animal shelter. They have all kinds of dogs needing good homes. Small dogs are in demand, so be prepared to visit the shelter often until you get lucky and find a small dog that you want.
The shelter will have evaluated the dog and will know it's approximate age. If it's a year old and is still small, then it's going to remain that way throughout it's life. Adult dogs are a good choice because you know they aren't going to get any bigger. With puppies, esp. mixed breed puppies, it's kind of a crap shoot. It helps to look at the size of the paws. If they are tiny, chances are the dog will not grow up to be big.
Small dogs tend to have lots of energy. If you want a small dog that is really peppy and can go jogging with you, try to get a terrier mix. They are more sturdy than the toy breeds. If you want a small but energetic dog that can get most of it's exercise in the house, than a Chihuahua mix is a good choice. If you are looking for a lap dog to hang around the house, pick out an older dog or one without a lot of energy.
Hope this helps!

Ok, here's the thing. Dog mixes are just that. Dog mixes. They are made made breeds that cost tons of money. Any dog that has a small breed mix, will stay small. Poodles, shih-tsu'a, lhasa's, poms, jack russels, etc. Bichon mixed with poodle (bichapoo's) stay small and won't shed. Usually the same with shihtapoos. Check out the shelters first. There are so many ador able well mannered small dogs looking for good homes.

If you go to the Purina website they have an exam that will help you decide which dog is best for you. You can take it many different times and see which small breeds keep coming up for you. Give it a try, it can't hurt.

It all depends on your needs and lifestyle. Since I have no info. about your lifestyle, I wouldnt know. Go with your instincts, and get the one that steals your heart and fits your needs.
