U will need: 1- 50 lb. bag of cracked corn, 50 lbs. sugar, 1- 55 gal. plastic [CLEAN] barrel and 10- small paks. of Fleshmans yeast. Place all ingrediants n barrel & fill 2 eight to ten inches below rim. Place barrel n sun with glass cover. Twice a day, 4 the next 4-7 days stir with non metal stick- willow limb works well. Do not stir hard, only enuf 2 over turn sediments n bottom. All day sun is best- stir 2 hours after sun heats barrel, then 2 hrs, b4 sun stops shinning on it. U will know its time to filter the " squeezins", 4-7 days later when little r no bubbles roll 2 the top when stired or modertly kicked at bottom of barrel. Strain through screen- window screen works well, but be advised, screen must be stainless steel, not aluminum!!!! For the cook off pot it will have to b copper or better yet stainless steel and the cooling coil cleaned copper. Fill pot 2/3 to 3/4 full ,cork off, run cooling coil up and over to elevated water filled tank or small barrel. run other end of coil out of bottom of cooling tank, seal opening of tank with silicone, let dry first then fill with water- ice may be added as necessary. heat cook off pot slowly. It should take about 1-2 hours for the first drip. From that point on you can taste the strength of the alcahol asd it drips

The mash should be made of good malted barley and water from a mountain stream, fermented as strong as you can but not for too long (otherwise the yeast begins to make methanol and other things which are not good).
You need a good, accurate thermometer to check when the methanol starts coming over. You want to stop before that. Double-distilling also purifies the spirit more.
Once you have good spirit, it should really be matured in oak barrels for 8 to 12 years, during which time half the spirit will evaporate through the wood of the barrel (the Angels' Share). Then you want to cut it to a proper strength with good spring water or better still water from a peaty mountain stream.
Unless you are in New Zealand, it is illegal, of course.

unfortunately most areas regulate distilling due to the hazards involved. May I suggest you look into wine, mead, beer and Horilka (a russian vodka-mead mixture)? All these can be made in relatively LARGE quantities at home without any legal risks.
