Only if you pierce someone else's ear.

Well, if by piercing an ear, you kill someone then...no. The most you can hope for is infection and that's not a mortal sin though it can cause some swelling and redness and occasionally, loss of a recently pierced ear.

In Judaism and Ancient Greek, um, ism, you can't pierce or tattoo your body because it's a temple and to poke it would be defiling it. Ancient Greeks weren't circumcised, though--I'm not sure why it's wrong to pierce a little ol' earlobe, but cutting the skin off the tip of a Jewish baby's little dinky winky is kosher. Seems like a way to fight the dominant patriarchal regime! Down with beauty and foreskins! Grrrrrr! Weird double standard.

How many times do you feel it necessary to ask this question?

Three within a 5 minute time span seems a bit much...

To answer you though, no. While there are passages in support and opposed to piercing (see two references below) it is not a mortal sin. Also, as all sin is forgivable, you need not worry about being condemned to Hell, so long as you accept Jesus Christ as your savior, and believe that he died for all sin, and that he rose again after his death. Acceptance and believing is what saves, not good deeds, or actions.

However, I would suggest that if you are worried about it or unsure, you pray for guidance in your decision prior to piercing your ears (or any other part of your body).

No.
I'm a Christian, and I follow the Lord Jesus Christ.
And I'm a Body Piercer.

People seem to put a hierachy of piercings. They think ear piercing is 'less sinful' than any other body piercing ( such as nose piercing or navel piercing). Because ear piercing is known to be culturally acceptable.
Keep in mind that in the some of the times that the Old testament was written Nose piercing was not seen as taboo, and was seen as quite a normal piece of body decoration. Just like ear piercing is here in North America. Even now in many parts of the world nose piercing and other body piercings are culturally acceptable.

Piercings are just like wearing jewlery, like a ring, a necklace or a bracelet.
Is it sinful to wear jewlery?? No.
It can be sinful if your entire life's focus is wearing jewlery.
It can be sinful if you indulge in anything and it takes your focus off of God. Clothes, money, your house.
As long as your focus is on God and not on material things. Your ok.

Even people in the Bible had piercings.
Rebekah had a nose ring.

No it's not a mortal sin.

In Biblical times it was a sign of being someones servent .....forever.

Ex 21:5. And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
6. Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

I have my ears pierced, but when I read that I took out the earings and have not worn any to this day.

On a lighter note my husband says he never liked to nibble on metal..............

It is not a mortal sin but I am a mortal chicken. I am scared to death because they get sore and I don't like pain.

According to the Religious Wrong, it is a mortal sin. It is alteration of the body given to you by Elohim, and therefore it is evil. "Your body is your temple." With that thought in mind, piercing or tattooing anything is evil.

It is not any kind of sin. Actually, there is no such thing as sin: some acts are immoral (ear piercing is not one of these), but none are sinful, because the term "sin" implies a (non-existent) god.

One must decide for their self. Some point to scripture concerning the body being the temple
of God so don't defile it in any manner. Also it is
said because of 'heathen' worship one shouldn't
do certain things to oneself or wear certain styles of clothing, or look at TV,etc.Yet we will
quickly proclaim:Judge Not. For me,I say check your own heart and live the best you can,
always reaching for higher and holier{is that a
word???} Spirituality is a constant journey in our life,so keep on truckinggg.

Sure, why not.. The rest of the religion is silly, so the approach to ear piercing may as well be too.
