This would depend on the type of advertisements you are talking about. If you are talking about popups and browser windows that suddenly open out of no where, then you need a good spyware scanner to remove the malware from your computer and to turn on the popup blocker in your browser. If you are talking about ads that are posted along side web content on the same page, yes there are way to stop some of these as well, but understand that the ads are how the websites make their money to operate. No money=no yahoo!, no money=no google, no money=no myspace.

Just use Mozilla Firefox Web Browser. And then install "Adblock" extension.

True; also, vague. We don't know what kind of OS you have, what browser you're using... it's a little hard to advise you.

try ad-aware and spybot... both are free off the web. I think you can get them at downloads.com
