i had a friend with a 69 camaro and they cut his dash , i was very upset that they did that to such a great car , the bad thing is that it only had 50,000 original miles . anyhow i would leave the factory dash in and put a cd player either mounted under the dash or in glove department . crutchfield was correct , you can't put one in the original location unless you start cutting which is a shame for such a nice car

you can try either best buy, circuit city, or one of the local installation shops. Or you can try putting in a disc changer. Personally, I avoided all of that by using my Ipod. With my Itrip, I just tune into one of the unused radio stations and listen to what I want to listen to. NO installation required. If you choose to do something like that, you don't take away from the value of your car and you don't have to worry about someone breaking into your car stealing your cd player. Because you can take your Ipod in at night.

If you are looking for a cd changer, do a search for a product called secret audio. It is a cd changer that can be mounted anywhere in the car without damaging the dash.

If you are talking about a behind the seat changer with a head unit to operate it then they might be right, but if all you want is a indash CD player then most any stereo shop should be able to help you.It may involve cutting a area in your dashboard to install one but that's up to you.

If you are looking to install a DIN type deck you will need to cut the dash to fit it in since back then the radios used shafts instead of push-buttons.
