Address written in English will get to the destination slower because the post office needs to translate the address to Chinese for the mail man to read.

However, the most important part of the address is the POST CODE. Without it, you will be lucky if the letter is delivered at all.

If you can write in Chinese, then better. A suggestion for you: get someone to write the address for you in Chinese and photocopy it several times for future use.

If you can do it in Chinese, it is likely to get there faster. Not all post office workers can read English and it will be sent to a different bureau or branch for translation.

Address in english the same way as in the US

Name
Street address
district city zip

in Chinese it goes backwards....

city, district address name
zip

I often have trouble getting mail from the US. If your letter is incomplete, dont expect it to get there.
