Basically, Mormonism is a denomination of Christianity that originated in the early 1800's led by Joseph Smith, Jr. It'd be difficult to go into a lot of detail on here, so I'm just going to send you a link to Wikipedia's take on Mormonism:

Wow your fiance is a Mormon and he is probably asking you to become one also; to take the Missionary discussions so you can get married in the temple and be together forever. sounds romantic right..Wrong!! Oh yes you can become a Mormon and get married in the temple and learn the correct way to shake hands so you can get to heaven (the Celestreal (sp) Kingdom) Then you and he can become Gods and Goddess's and make your own world.

That is what Mormons believe and a lot of other goblty ****. I was a Mormon for years my advice is run away don't let them sucker you in, they won't tell you the truth and you better not ever have you own opinions they yelled at me for hours for that when I was a child and a teen (I got out when I was 15) Don't question anything either. They don't like it.

They are a cult despite what they believe of them self's.

Mormons are people who believe that Christ came to North America after he died. They believe an angel came to Joseph smith and gave him golden plates that were written by someone named Mormon back around 200-300AD. It is the most absurd religion in the world, Joseph Smith wrote his translation of the book in Old English much like the King James bible is written...even though he lived in North American in the 1800s. The Mormon religion goes against everything taught to us in the bible and Paul warned us against false teachings when he said If anyone even an angel from heaven should preach to you another gospel other than the one I preach to you know let him be accursed. This is exactly what the Mormons claimed happened to Joseph Smith. The book of Mormon can be shown to be 100% with out a doubt to be plagiarized from the KJV of the old testament because Joseph Smith copied translation errors from the early copies of the KJV of the bible.

Congrats on the engagement!
For accurate info (instead of weird Hater stuff) try the official church website: www.lds.org. I'd suggest starting with the "basic beliefs" link.
And I'd also suggest talking with your fiance about it...I mean if you're going to be married, you have to decide what kind of ceremony you want, how you'd want to raise any kids you might have - these should be important topics you discuss as you plan your life together.

Hugs.

I dont believe you. If your fiance is morman then you would have no problem asking him about his religion and beliefs

I was raised Morman, so I guess one of the easiest explaiations is "The Articles of Faith" here they are

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.

We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

We believe that these ordinances1 [the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel]1 are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon this1 [the]1 [American]2 continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our [own]1 conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Mormonism was created by some one who had a vision of an angel. (same as Islam).
Too extensive to be explained in few words.
Be aware of Mormons for they teach that polygamy (having more than one wife) is allowed, even they say the don't practice it anymore.

Try lds.org or mormon.org. Don't listen to these people that say mormons are a cult. If you know your fiance, you probably know that's not true. Mormons are good people with high moral standards.
