of course it can if you love him and he loves you, but he'll need to be patient as you finish growing up mentally. if he's a special man he will help.

It can, but it can create quite a stress in the marriage. But if you think that you are serious then here is what to do...
Sit back and daydream about what you want your life to be like, but don't picture yourself with any particular man. Just imagine what the perfect life would be like for you. Imagine what you want to be doing when you are 25, 35, 45 and so on.

After you have an idea about what your perfect life would be like add the guy into the picture and see if he would help you get to where you want to be. But in doing this remember...

at 25 you will probably start having kids and he will be 47. Will he be able to put up with the time and energy that kids have or will he be getting old and tired and leave all of the chasing after the kids to you.

at 35 he will be 57 and approaching retirement age. You are still young and active and the oldest kids are going to be getting involved in sports and other activities and you may still have some really young ones. Is he going to be able to help with them?

at 45 he will be 67. You will probably still have some kids at home that haven't even entered high school. You are in the prime of your life while he his past retirement age. Is he going to have to keep working or does he have a really nice retirement package that can last you another 40 years?

at 55 he will be 77. You will be beginning to slow down but you still have a lot of life left in you. Is he still working to make ends meet? What has this done to his health? The kids are finally moving out and settling down and you are beginning to want to travel and see the world. Do you both have the health and money for this or are you going to have to work because he has been out of work or using retirement for the last 10 years?

at 65 he will be 87. You still have 20 good years left of life, are you having to change his diaper and take care of him every day or are you already a widow?

It could work, but these are just some things to think about. Don't make any hasty, rash decisions. You still have a lot of time to decide, you are still young. You could be attracted to him for his maturity because compared to a lot of the kids your age, he is very mature. Go off and go to college, even for just a year to see what else is out there. Get some experience and maturity of your own. Then, if it is to be, he will still be there.

Sorry for the long response, but I have a family member going through the same dilema who won't talk to anyone about it, and this is what I would tell her.

I guess it can, but I think it will be very hard for the 18 year old. You will still be attracted to so many other men. Especially around your age. I think the 18 year old need to just live her life for now and marriage will come later. You will regret it right now.

Yes it will work if you love one another. Sexually it will. Financially it will (unless he is a con who just came out after 20 year time jail term).
