I am a 41 year old female. I went in for blood test because of joint and muscle pain, dark urine, nausea, severe fatigue. I have been ill with colon and liver problems ,also facing more surgeries in the coming weeks. So I know my immune system is down Stressed too? The question is can you have a strep infection in your joints without having strep throat first? I was told today that I have a strep infection in my joints and I have to be on Augmentin.. I have not had a sore throat at all. Please let me know if you have heard of this before. Thanks!

Most people think of strep as just causing strep throat, but there are different strains of this bacteria and it causes all kinds of problems. There is Strep pneumoniae and also strep that can cause a vaginal infection and lead to birth defects.
