It might be "fresh," but if you like sushi or you want to try it for the first time don't get it from there! While it may be "fresh," you never get the same quality of ingredients. I've eaten sushi often and tried it from different types of businesses. It is just never as good as at a true sushi bar. I get it in the back of a Japanese market and it is the best you will ever find. Go to a true sushi place otherwise you won't get the quality the food deserves.

Hmmm...close but no cigar. It also depends on what grocery store. An asian market, you have a better chance. Still, my favorite sushi I have never seen anywhere else, and I can get it modified to my liking. It varies depending on what's the best sushi you've ever had. A person who has had good sushi will not prefer a grocery store imposter. However, I have craved it and gone with the grocery store kind sometimes. You may have to shop around to see what you like better. ALways check the date, and inspect the grocery kind.

I don't think it's exactly the same, because obviously the restaurant makes it fresh when you order it. But a friend brought some grocery store sushi the other day, and it wasn't bad. It was actually pretty good.

No way! It's not 1/10th as good, either. Usually, it's dull California rolls or something.....Sushi bar is going to be WAY better. Don't even bother with grocery store sushi, unless it's made fresh to order in the deli.

In my grocery store, they make the sushi right in front of you. The restaurants are individual and only as good as their last health inspection. My local Japanese restaurant has amazingly fresh food but I only eat vegetarian food.

You can make a special order, so then it is fresh. The publix sushi tastes fresh to me!

Normally they don't use real crab they use the fake crab meat, and it isn't as good a real fresh sushi from a restaurant, but it is ok, put enough wasabi on it and you'll never know the difference.

Usually, they are left in the refrigerator for days. I wouldn't recommend it. Try going to Sushi Boat, Wasabi, or other japanese restaurant. They are the best bet if you want sushi.
