A ticket is a ticket, same price no matter the age. Airlines consider anyone 15 and over an adult, they do not need an adult to check them in or verify ID. You can buy her ticket on any site, like you would for yourself. She can check herself in and can go to the gate by herself.
Where are you getting your information from?? Some airlines dont accept Unaccomanied Minors, but at 16, she's not a UM. Shoot me an e-mail and I'll be glad to help you if you need it. I worked for an airline, so I may be able to help you find the best rates. These travel websites can be traps and an uneducated person can end up paying more when they think they are getting a good deal. Send me an e-mail with the dates and city pairs and I'll see what I can find.
Most 16 year olds are perfectly capable of handling air travel on their own and checking themselves in if they are mature enough. Just go to the airports websites that she will be traveling through so that she will be familiar with the lay out and know where she needs to go.
While they law may consider her a minor, by airline standards she isnt

Most airlines don't offer discounts for unacompanied minors. When you purchase the ticket, you just need to put her age. Usually there is a check box for an unacompanied minor, if you are purchasing off a website. You can also call the airline reservation line, but that will cost about 10-15 dollars more. Being 16, your daughter should have a state issued ID or drivers license. If she does, you will not have to acompany her to the airport.

At 16, she doesn't get a minor ticket - she gets an adult ticket. Book it just like you would any ticket, placing her name as the traveler.

travel agent, or buy an adult ticket.
Or call air line direct.
There are stricter rules for kids travelling alone, the airlines usually like to know so they can help keep an eye on them and there is no confusion on who is picking them up.
I would recomend that.
I would also recomend going and checking her in at the airlines, she may be 16 but the airport can be confusing, You dont plan on just dropping her off at the curb do ya?

Perhaps better to call an airline and ask the question there, you are more likely to get a precise answer.
