Pathology is the study of diseases and how they are diagnosed and interact with the body. Epidemiology is the study of the spread and cause of diseases.

The field of Medicine. You are talking about pathophysiology of disease processes. Its a componant of all medical education to one degree or another. Different specialties go more in depth in certain catagories. For example, Dermatologists focus on conditions of the skin, Cardiologists-the heart, Nephrologists-the kidneys and so on. All MDs go through the same "all over" training before they start to specialize.

For human diseases it would likely be human pathology. For animal diseases it would be veterinary pathology.
