The truth is chocolate contains theobromine that is toxic to dogs in sufficient quantities. This is a xanthine compound in the same family of caffeine, and theophylline. So, for example, 2 oz. of Baker's chocolate can cause great risk to an 15 lb. dog. Yet, 2 oz. of Milk chocolate usually will only cause digestive problems

I cannot remember the exact chemical name but 10 oz of milk chocolate or (1) oz of dark chocolate will do a dog in...

Also do not give them anything with Onions or garlic so any Italian food left overs are a NO NO

Onions and garlic will cause the red blood cells (in dogs) to burst and then the dog will not have enough to oxygenate it's body and will die.

The total ingredients in Chocolate are lethal to dogs. It destroys the living part of the dog.

I don't know how it kills dogs. Because my dog got to piece of chocolate. She jumped up on the table and ate it and she is still alive. Sorry that i can't help you.

Chocolate contains an ingredient that acts like caffeine. A little bit shouldn't hurt your dog...too much can cause siezure, other central nervous system or cardiovascular problems, and/or death.

I think chocolate does to a dog's liver what alcohol does to ours...
It happens over time...

i dont know. my dog eats chocolate all the time and he's as healthy as a horse! i dont give it to him, but he always finds a way to get it. he is a chocolate lab so maybe its cuz of his size...

DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS OTHER THAN CHOCOLATE ITSELF.....MY DOG ATE SIX LARGE DARK DARK CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES WHICH WERE COOLING ON THE LOWER OVEN DOOR IN THE AM....BY FIVE OCLOCK THAT EVENING HE WENT STIFF WHILE TRYING TO HAVE HIS REG. DOG FOOD......HE FELL OVER FOAMING AT THE MOUTH AND CONTINUED TO HAVE SEIZURES FOR TWO HOURS......HE IS VERY LARGE WHITE AUSTRIAN......I GOT HIM INTO JEEP MYSELF ON A SUNDAY AND DROVE HIM TO EMERG PET HOSP ABOUT 35 MILES AWAY...TOOK SEIZURES ALL THE WAY DOWN...HAD TO PAY 725.00 FOR HOSPITAL STAY AND IVS ETC....THEIR SYSTEM CANNOT PROCESS CHOCOLATE.. DONT KNOW WHY............IT WILL CONTINUE TO CIRCULATE IN THEIR SYSTEM FOR 4 - 5 DAYS AND CAUSE SEIZURES...IF THEY MAKE IT.....CHOCOLATE IS LETHAL IN ALL OF ITS FORMS FOR ALL DOGS.....

Its just the cocoa beans that cause damage to the liver as it cannot filter it properly.
