I've seen the statistic you quoted in my Inbox many times. Let's look at some numbers, though.

In 2004 some 98,000 deaths can be directly related to doctor and or hospital mistakes. In that same year 16,137 murders were comitted in the USA. Of these murders 66% were with a gun or 10,650. (US DOJ http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/guns.htm)

The 1500 accidental number is about right as I saw ranges from 1200 to 1670 while searching the web.

Another interesting statistic is that 52% of gun deaths are from suicide.

More interesting is that the so called "Brady Bill" deined gun buys to about 126,000 to 136,000 people per year. You may think WOW! The Brady Bill works! No, not really. This is only 1.5% of the gun sales done legally every year. So it works out that 98.5% of all gun buyers were investigated and didn't have a mental or criminal problem preventing them from buying a gun. Thus 98.5% of the expense needed to run the background check was wasted money.

I believe that. I was nearly killed by my pediatrician when i was 5, because he knowingly gave me a recalled menengitis vaccine made with a live culture.

took me over three years to recover, I had no immune system.

Doctors, in my opinion, are worthless. Since most are just making money, and creating illnesses. Although a good doctor is priceless.
