that would be the lovely Helen Duncan
her trial for witchcraft got the act repealed
and the poor soul suffered so much at the hands of the authorities

Helen Duncan was the last witch tried in the UK (Scotland to be precise). She was sent to prison in 1944 and released later the same year.

For england it was Jane Wenham in 1712/1730, records aren't clear.
