It is fact and was written by various authors, since it is a collection of 66 books in one Bible.
Some books are written by Paul the apostle, some by Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Timothy, etc.
Look for a study Bible and the author of each book should be mentioned. Pray for dad to open his heart to the truth.

The authors are mostly unknown. Though we have the tradition of Mosaic authorship of the Penteteuch it's clearly written by at least nine authors over a period of centuries. I believe that much of the histories were written down, as opposed to discovered whole, by Ezra and the scribes after the Babylonian captivity when it became important to have a recorded history around which to build a nation. We have traditions regarding the gospels, though the earliest papyri do not contain the name of their authors. We have letters from Paul and Peter believed authentic and those believed written by their followers in their name, and we have many books excluded from the Bible which purport to be written by these same men but are wildly different. The authenticity of John's Gospel and the Apocalypse were doubted for many years.
Richard Elliot Friedman's "Who Wrote the Bible" does a good job of sticking to questions of authorship and, date and location without dealing with validity at all. You might want to start there.

Some stories are fiction, but have meanings to them. Other passages are real, but is interpreted in many different ways, because we live in a different world now. The bible was written by many men, I know that the gospels were written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. But John(not sure if it's the same John who wrote the gospel John, or a different John) wrote revelation, I'm love Revelation. But different companies are the ones that published the scriptures.

The Bible is a mixture of fact and fiction. It was written by the Church in the early 1600's by order of King James 1 shortly after the death of Queen Elizabeth 1.

The bible has many authors. It was written mostly by men. The documents are factual like land marks, history, etc. Their beliefs are filled with their personal experiences of God & it also holds their opinions about God & what they felt inspired to write.
Truth can be found in the heart. And everyone has that ability to find truth. God is experienced in many ways & is not the same from person to person.
Bible quote: "Work out your own salvation..." This is all I need to know.

It was written by people that truly love God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The New Testament was written by Physicians, Tax collectors, etc. They were educated people. They was eye witnesses to Jesus and all He done. They viewed Him ascending, they experienced the Holy Ghost. The New Testament is factual. The Old Testament described exactly what was to happen to Jesus. It described what was going to happen to the children 3 and under. They was going to be killed. The Roman soldiers killed every child 3 and under. Herod was the King at this time. Archaeologists have already established this fact.

It was written by a few different people including Moses, Mark John and others. Depending on who wrote it and what form they used some is literal and some is a code. Go to bible study they teach ya all about it. You don't have to believe to learn the facts about the whos and hows.

The Bible was written by various people who were inspired by God. It has plenty of facts, some fables, some history, some stories. Throughout history it has inspired people, changed lives, and brought people to a deeper understanding of God.
I don't think you'll win the debate with your father as the Bible means different things to different people.

The Bible was written by several writers over the many years it took to write it, but there is only one author, and that author is God.
In the original languages the Bible is the true word of God.
There have been many translations into different languages over the years, some of them are good, others contain many errors.

The bible is a compilation of 66 books written by 40 different authors. I believe it is what it claims to be....the inspired word of God. Written over thousands of years.....the Old Testament is said to be the New Testament concealed, and the New is the Old Testament revealed.
The entire bible is actually all about Jesus Christ. It is the history of a nation, Israel, the promise of their Messiah, and the deliverance of any who believe in Him.
