In some respects, yes, I would. The things you mention--liking and supporting the president and not knowing every little thing--would be great. However, we've made so many strides since then as far as civil and equal rights go. I wouldn't want to go back to a time when it was acceptable to be prejudiced toward anyone. As a female, I wouldn't want to go back to a time when my life options were limited--maybe not as much as they were before WW II, but still limited. Every advance in civilization brings about a lot of good, but also things that we wish we could change. Personally, this is the first President we've had that I have NOT liked or supported. I would like to see civility return when people are exchanging and expressing viewpoints. Name-calling is not the way to get a point across or express disagreement. I also wish politicians could compromise. You know meet in the middle. Maybe not everyone would be happy with that, but I bet the majority would be.

I am only fifteen, but I can still wish I could be back there. Times seemed so much simpler, everyone seemed nicer. Now everyone is out to make a profit and a big one at that. If we could simply revert to trusting our own neighbors and not suspecting that they are all terrorists, we could live in a much more easy world.

Things were probably not as great as we think they were. People still had to work hard, probably even harder, to support their families. And if you were a woman, your options were very limited - stay at home and take care of your husband or....stay at home and take care of your husband. Oh yeah, and if he is abusive, don't divorce him or you will be shunned by society. I'm sure minorities, esp. African Americans, enjoyed full civil rights...

Some people have rosy notions that the past was great. . .it wasn't. Those were not such great decades. We are much better off today than we were in the 1940's & 1950's.

Nope,
Sure Segeration, Racism, Sexism, and the Coldwar are bad.
But as a globe we are resisting the old ways of thinking, of war, of greed, and selfishness.....
The globe is becoming more connected.....we are becoming more aware of what is going on.
