Your question is too vague, as in more information about you is needed to give an accurate answer...such as your lean body mass, lifestyle, etc. The average person needs 1500 calories per day just to feed your normal body functions (muscles, organs, etc).
The rule of thumb for safe weight loss is:
500 calories x 7 days = 3500 calories, which = 1 pound
Believe it or not, it takes calories to burn calories. If you go too low, your metabolism will shut down and go into survival mode.
Diet alone is not a good way to loose weight. You need to add a basic cardio and strenght training routine.
Once again, more info about you is needed...but here is a good place to start:

basically you need to eat less calories than you are using to loose weight for example i walk 2/3 miles a day due to the nursery walk five times a week. Then i have to chase my children around all day. Then when hubby goes home i go on my air walker for 1 hour straight. I do all this on 1500 calories and the weight is coming of slowly. You need to have a weekly pratical goal i.e 2lbs. Then in 6 months you will see the positive results. I don't go to the gym. Then i go to work as a chef it does work I cheat i have one treat a week like a bar of chocolate, or a takeaway. Or everyday i have to try the food i cook so for me it's not easy but my way is working. Remeber Fuel/Calories-Exercise=loss of weight. Good luck
