When her temp drops to normal (98) then you have about 24 hours - I'll try to locate a good webpage for you to read since there are stages

EDIT: Here ya go - I haven't read through it all as I have to leave but it'll give ya an idea :)

I reviewed your previous question, I have had litters that were born on the 58th day..... and be OK.
Are you absolutely sure the male didn't not "sneak a treat" a few days earlier and you not be aware of it?
LOL I hope so, I would be out of my mind with labor at 55 days.
What day did you start the count? If she bred for 3 days, maybe she became preg on the first day?
I am grasping at straws here....I soooo hope you started the count on the last day of breeding and not the first.
If she is in labor now, the first sign will be the panting and digging in her bed,
When she starts having contractions, (you can actually see her push), it will be sort of like she has to go poop really bad. You will see the muscles in her stomach roll as she pushes.
The contractions can be as close as seconds or as far apart as an hour. When they start she SHOULD have a baby within 1 to 4 hours.
There can be as much as 2 hours between babies being born.
The harder the contractions..... the closer it is to a baby being born.
I will watch for your comments, let us know her progress.

then contact another vet in the area. All vets have an emergency number or clinic for after hours. 55 days is way too early for puppies to be born as their lung are not developed yet.

dogs usually give birth on an average of 63 days, but they have been known to have them early. As early as 56 days but no later than 63 days.

Most puppies are born at 60-63 days. Our basset hound had hers on the 60th day.
