After reading other answers I would say DEFINITELY do NOT pound it out and make steaks with it. A london broil cut is usually a nice cut of steak - you don't want to ruin it by doing a lot to it.
A sure-fire way that has worked for us is to make a marinade of:
1/2 cup red (marsala preferred) wine
3-4 cloves of garlic (you can never use TOO much garlic!)
3 leaves of fresh basil - 1/8 tsp. dried if fresh is not available.
Some spices – we use pepper, garlic salt and a dash of thyme
Place your cut of London broil in the marinade and let it set for several hours.
Turn it every 30-45 minutes.
Now it’s ready to cook.
If you grill it, have grill (we have George Forman electric----so easy) set on 2-3. OR, you can cook it on the broiler…but watch it so you don’t cook it too long.
London Broil is usually served rare – you can even use a creamy horseradish sauce on the side…or just pour the remainder of your marinade into a gray bowl.
ENJOY – we certainly did!

London Broil Recipe
Yummy! Great served with Rice Casserole.
1/4 cup dark sesame oil (no subs)
1/4 cup canola oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon molasses
1 head garlic, peeled and chopped
1 (2 lb) london broil beef (about 1 1/2" thick)
4-6 servings
1. Place first five ingredients in a gallon-size zip-lock bag.
2. Diagonally score the London broil.
3. Place the meat in the bag of marinade.
4. Refrigerate at least 8 hours, turning the bag occasionally.
5. Grill over medium-hot coals.
6. Do not overcook.
7. Meat will continue to cook once removed from the grill, and should still be pink when sliced.
8. Slice against the grain of the meat in 1/4" slices.

Here is the winning recipe. This is one of my favorites.
London Broil
1 clove garlic, sliced
1 c. oil
½ c. cider vinegar
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
2 tsp. dry mustard
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
dash of cayenne
few drops of Tabasco sauce
2 ½ lb. lean flank steak, scored
Place garlic in large shallow pan. Blend remaining ingredients except meat. Place steak in pan; pour marinade over meat. Marinate overnight. Broil steak 2 to 3 inches below heat, allowing 3 to 4 minutes for each side. Carve diagonally across grain into thin slices.
Marinade may be refrigerated and used for other meats, fish, or poultry.
Yield: 4 Servings

Sure - first ask your butcher to tenderize it really well, or if you have a meat mallet at home you can pound it a LOT. Then make chicken fried steak out of it, serve with mashed potatoes and gravy. Southern Living cookbook has a great recipe. You basically double dip it in buttermilk, then peppered flour, and fry it in a hot pan with an inch of oil. Very good.

after it marinates in your favorite juice, ive used italian dressing, balsamic vinaigrette dressing, lemon juice and olive oil...whatever you like, and youve broiled it for 6 or 7 minutes per side, or grilled it...its how its carved that makes the piece of meat worth the trip. cut it from the pointy end at a 45 degree angle really thin.

Cook it rare (London broil gets tough if it's overcooked), then smother it with a mixture of melted butter, bleu cheese, and chopped scallions. Yum!
