How many Messerschmitt Bf 109's exist today. Is there a database somewhere with a list of surviving vintage military aircraft?

I don't think any historian has ever tried to track every single Bf 109.
They were made in many countries even in to the 1950's.
Spain was flying theirs (Hispano's) until the 1960's.
Isreal even had some that they flew against Egyptian Spitfires in '48, '49.
Read the Wikipedia article for neat info and more links.

Those aircraft are still around; one in particular is at “Planes of Fame” in Chino California. From what I understand there are a few others that are flyable but not many. Check the internet listings for aviation museums and you will find quite a few but most are hulks that only look nice and give an idea of the aircraft in its heyday.
