..........I'm a 'thick' girl and I think those colors will make me look like a huge piece of fruit or a balloon or something like that..........

Well, as a "thick" mom of 3 herself trying to plan her wedding in March, I am totally feeling you. A few things i had to do was put away some of my preconceived ideas about colors. I am not wearing white either. I dont really have the awesome figure that would allow me to wear it so I chose a very very pale (almost white, but in the sun you see its blue) with a pale blue shoulder wrap. I has silver in it as well. I was originally going to go with a tan pantsuit type outfit, but everyone has now convinced me to go with a dress. As a woman of color, I have to be very choosy about what colors go good with my skin tone. Not everything is made for me! (and thanks to wanting to get married, i have been shown that!)

I wont do purple, pink, red, peach, lavender either- those remind me of bridesmaids gone bad. I say go try on a few styles that you like wherever you are getting your dress from. you may find a creme, or another light color to help you.

Look through your closet and see what your wardrobe consists of, maybe you can pick a color from there.
If you are having a non-traditional type wedding, you can choose a pant suit, a nice tan/gold ensemble. Or, go ultra formal and make your affair a black/white wedding. tuxes and evening gowns black and white. (im all for the slimming black dress!)

Good luck!

I too am a mother, and I'm getting married soon. I also now have two step-daughters, so I feel your pain. I have chosen to go with a champange wedding dress. Not a deep color, but darker than ivory. Good Luck and congrats. Oh, you said you were thick, so here's a tip. Get a dress that accents your breasts, then just falls over the rest of your body.

I realize you said no blues but you also asked for pale colours so I'm figuring you don't want pale blue. My best friend, who is not tiny by any means, got married when her son was about 5 years old. She wore a two piece dress where the skirt was in a bluey grey colour with a nice pattern. If you want to see a picture of her dress, go to the website below and then click on "three" under "Picture Pages" in the Table of Contents. The fourth picture down on that page is probably the best one to show the dress.

Champagne and Silver/Gray are great options.... With the right amount of beading it can be a really nice look....

Everyone always says off-white because its an easy color to find.

I would suggest a stylish/traditional gown in a not so traditional color, but keep with the formal nature of the event.

Off white would be a good color. It's kind of not quite all the way white and you can get some gold trim or whatever type of trim you like on it. But I would go with the off white wedding dress. And by the way congratulations.

You pretty much nixed all the "softer colors" what's left? I'd say an ivory or off white. You could add some color with a large ribbon or sash.

My mom is wearing a captivating bronze colored dress to my wedding ceremony. It particularly seems astonishing on her. it is strapless and has a bolero variety matching jacket with an ornamental clasp in gold. i imagine a pewter/darkish silver, bronze, or some thing saturated must be tremendous hues to pass with the colour scheme. in my opinion, i imagine floral is a touch too busy, yet you would possibly want to shop their own kinds in ideas :)

Wear black..... have the wedding in the evening.
It's ok to wear dark colors. And I have seen some older woman or on their second marriages were a dark suit. Looks nice and slimming.
And I love your fruit comments!! You made my day!!

Ivory? You probably have heard that already. What about champagne, latte or ecru? You could do a two toned dress with one of those colors and another color that you're having as your "wedding" color.
