The answer to this vexing problem often lies in a trip to the family doctor.
Snoring can be a sign of a serious medical problem - sleep apnea, in which the sleeper wakes up many times a night because s/he has stopped breathing; for some reason, snoring is associated with it.
IF that is the problem, a device that fits over her face will help to heep her breathing by providing Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP). And the snoring will stop.
Other causes of snoring are usually addressed by a less drastic remedy, whether certain medications, a different pillow, nasal strips etc.
Then there are separate bedrooms - a common situation in Europe - which might even add a bit of spice to your intimacy.

There is a device like a nightguard that some dentists can make for your wife. It fits in the mouth to push the lower jaw slightly forward and this stops the snoring. I would contact a sleep clinic and ask for this device for its exact name and a recommendation to which dentists in your area have expereince with making these. She would also have to be examined to see if this would work for her too, and dentists that do this kind of work has some sort of special equipment to determine if she would be a good candiate for this.
The option to have surgery only works 50% of the time. I would most certainly do this option I mentioned above first!
The other thing to do, is to use a C-pap machine, which is a mask, but those make noise also plus the sound of air escaping, and the air can blow on you while you are in bed together.

There are many reasons that could be causing her snoring. Some may be due to really bad sinus problems, difficulty breathing when lying down.. All those things definitlys hould be checked out by a doctor. Talk to her about it.. because if she is snoring that bad, chances are she's not getting a good night sleep either. Just because you snore, that doesn't mean the person who is sleeping is sleeping good.

I know exactly how you feel, my husband snores and it's no joke. Try sleeping in a different room, if you have the space. She could try some of the herbal remedies on the market, however we haven't found anything that works for my hubbie. Sometimes sleeping with a window open can help. It's just a case of doing what you need to do in order to get a good night's sleep, and if that means sleeping in separate rooms, then sometimes that's what you have to do. If it's really getting too much, try asking her to go to the doctor to see if anything else can be done (my husband won't go!!!)
Good luck!

I went to see an ENT specialist due to my hubby's snoring he told us he couldn't do anything as he has a post nasal drip and suggested to me I buy ear plugs.
I am still with hubby 14 years later but most nights I sleep on the sofa downstairs and he is in bed upstairs.
I know how you feel.
I have tried turning him, buying all the stuff from the chemist, homoeopathic stuff and putting a ball in the bag of his t-shirt so he didn't sleep on his back. Nothing worked.
I find if I go to sleep before him I don't hear it.
Wish I could give you a better answer.

It must be awful bad if you are wanting to do something that would land you in jail. Have her try those breathe right strips and have her see her doctor. Extreme snoring is a symptom of other more serious health problems like sleep apnea.

Ha! My gf and I have a spare bed in another room. We also got some funny spray called Snore B Gone or something--a glycerin spray for the throat. It actually brings down the decibles some. Usually the other bed works the best.

She may be in desperate need of a machine called a cpap. She needs to have a sleep study done to see if this is the case. Snoring can often indicate a problem called sleep apnea, over time sleep apnea causes all sorts of health problems including heart disease, high blood pressure and clinical depression.

Get her to a doctor to be referred to a sleep clinic. Snoring is very often a sign of a serious disease called sleep apnea which can damage your heart if untreated. Snoring is not just an annoyance; it may be a very serious health problem. If my husband had not told me I snored, I'd probably be dead by now. Don't delay - this is serious stuff.
