Call Adult Protective Services and have them get involved. If they see she is a danger to herself or others they will know the right way to go about getting her help. Hang in there. Mental illness is often very scary to have to deal with. She probably very much believes her delusions are real. If you do not have an Adult Protective Service in your area, a mental health hotline should be able to point you in the right direction. Schizophrenia can be treated very successfully with the right meds and mental health support. If you're not an adult tell a trusted adult and ask them to help you out with this. God Bless and take care.

Sounds to me like mom has more issues than just being "schitzo"! My immediate "gut" tells me that, now more than ever before, you have to really love her - she needs you. As for her fantasies - I'll presume they really are baseless - I'd have her checked out by a pro, might cost a bit but there are agencies that can help with that.
If you are hell-bent on having her put away - go to the local hospital and tell them about her. They'll sort it out.
Leave the police out of it!!!!

If she is a danger to herself or others you can call the local police department and file a petition for commitment..it starts with a 72 hour involuntary hold, after she goes in front of the mental health board she could be committed for up to 90 days..sometimes longer if it is severe..but first ask her to go voluntarily.

What state are you in? Each state has their own laws for involuntary commitment. For the most part, you can only be involuntary hospitalized if you present an imminent risk to yourself or others. If she's hallucinating and delusional and not hurting anyone or herself, there's not much you can do. If she's hallucinating and delusional and not eating, sleeping, or bathing, you may have a case for hospitalization (failure to care for self is a danger to self).
Chances are, she's not going to go to the hospital or a psychologist for an evaluation. If she's really scaring you, look up the number for your local community mental health clinic, crisis line or the police.

you can have her committed if you take her to the hospital, and tell them what she is doing or just call a counselor and they will have her committed, ( honestly this question seems a little hard to believe, but if it's real you need her committed soon) just make sure they don't put her on to many meds, or she will be like a zombie. good luck with that

Look in your phone book and if they have a mental ward in your hospital or even just a number for the ward i would give it a call and explain what is going on. They should help.
Good luck and prayers are around you.

Find a professional, a school counselor, a community mental health clinic, the closest cop who can refer you to someone good. Talk to a minister asking for referrals. There is someone who can help you without it costing too much. If it is true there is medication which can help.

take her to a psychiatrist. and she also needs to take MRI scans.
the psychiatrist will be able to prescribe drugs for treatment. There are a several different drugs that are intended to treat schizo and reduce the voices and image, including Zyprexa, Risperdal, and Clozapine. I personally recommend Clozapine. Make sure to take her to your hospital and ask about these drugs.

It only takes two family members to commit someone, depending on what state you are in, sometimes it only takes one...what about your father is he in the picture? or an aunt, uncle, cousin...someone who can help intervene and take her to a mental institution where she can get the help she needs. If she wont go willingly, (which she probably wont), you may need to just pretend you're taking her somewhere else and then just go for it! Good luck!

Get her to an ER for a mobile crisis evaluation. If you can show she is an immanent danger to herself and/or others she can be committed to a psychiatric hospital.
