False.

Most of the bible is in clear words, it means what it says. Only some of the symbolism and parables need explaining.

The best advice is read it for yourself. If someone quotes a scripture at you, look it up and read it in context. Don't blindly believe everything you hear.

Guess what, that's is the way life is. My own personal belief is that the Bible contains stories that were written by man to explain how the world worked - NOT the WORD of G-D. So, in many ways, the Bible, to me, is no different than Greek Mythology. The only difference, and the main reason people today don't walk around saying "Be good or Zues will teach you a lesson" is that a written book will always outlast stories told through the ages. Also, what is so so wrong about the Bible being only worth what people interpret out of it? The Constitution of the United States is that way, and its been doing a rockin' job for centuries now. The only reason people, again, my opinion, follow A religion, is that they fear having to come up with the answers themselves. Life is much easier if you know that no matter what happens you just follow the "Rules" of your religion and G-D will take care of you. Well, I believe you should be good to people, not lie, not steal, and have healthy thoughts because its the RIGHT thing to do and because you would like people to treat you that way. I didn't have to interpret any Bible to tell me that. Anyway, interpretation is a fact of life. All is gray, clear-cut black vs. white is not real.

As far as I'm concerned the Bible is really just a fake story, perhaps a bit like the Loch Ness monster tales.

When we pass on information to another (example: story, joke, description of something etc) by the time these details are passed on by word of mouth, interpreted by others, and then written down, the final details are typically quite different than the original information.

Since the Bible is just a man-made story passed down over many years in various forms, the chance of it being accurate in any shape or form is remote.

There are people who swear blind that the Loch Ness monster exists regardless of all the evidence to the contrary, but a fence post bobbing up and down in the Loch does the trick. Similarly there are people who swear blind that God exists and the Bible is fact, yet there isn’t one blind bit of evidence to support such theories.

Biblical tales are really no different than Loch Ness monster tales, just the era is different. People should just take it all with a pinch of salt, but sadly, a lot don't.

The Bible is not useless. Even if you are not Christian, there are many stories in the Bible that have meaning and provide guidance through your life. The story of Jesus: You don't have to believe that Jesus was born of a virgin mother or that he was physically resurrected to understand the meaning of his work. The religious thing revolving around Him not withstanding, Jesus had some good things to say. You can boil it down to this: Don't be an asshole. Doesn't require a fundamentalist view point to hear that.

Wow you're a freak. I'm far from being a bible-thumper but to be associated with you and your ilk..ugg.

The bible is not useless. It provides some people with comfort and guidance in their lives. That makes it useful, same as a teddy bear is useful to a child.

Same as your computer is useful to you so you can spread your gospel.

Does it feel weird to be an atheist and yet have a message to spread to others? Does it feel weird that you are more fervent in attempting to convert people to your side than a typical christian?

atheistempire...lol. Sounds to me like you're in a cult that is attempting to subvert christianity for the sake of something to do.

They don't see it however they want. That is your first fallacy.
There are some minor interpretations that differ - but Christianity is defined by following Christ and have a relationship with him. And by the assurance of etrenal life because of his death in my place.
No variations there - if there is then it is not Christianity. The Bibleiis based on that. God gives his word perfectly and is himself perfect, but man can mess things up. Read the Bible for yourself - the Gospel of John or the Book of Romans.
Look at God, not at man.

Some of these people have said the Bible is straightforward and clear-hee, hee. What a joke! Well, they should find out of the contradictions soon enough.
I guess dictators need something to 'intepret' as they see best for their own situation and since they've made history, I'd hav to admit it hasn't been useless to some...

The bible gives us guidelines to
every day living. If the whole world practiced atheism,
we would probably not be here (you or I)
because killing would be O.K. If you didn't like
some one (shoot-em) why not/
not only along those lines , but many different
every day things, that make people nice to be around.
The 10 commandments were made for us to
be a guide line, to protect
YOU and ME

True.. If it was the infallible word of God I am certain that God would have written it in such away that the meaning would be clear, cut and dry with no room for misinterpretation. It would all be literal, word for word. You would not have to interpret it, or even worse have to rely on a minister or someone else's opinion to interpret it correctly to you. How would you know if what he says is true? If your salvation depended on it, there would be no room for error no contradictions etc., ...period.
