I really like this guy. I've always thought of him as a good friend and we share lots of common interests. He wasn't available until just a couple weeks ago when his girlfriend broke up with him. Since then, I've seen him maybe once and I've talked to him numerous times. A bunch of my friends keep telling me that he's still in love with his ex, and that they went on a date/kissed to try and decide whether or not to get back together. I asked him a couple days ago straight out whether or not they were back together and he said no, they are just friends. I don't know who to believe. My friends are reliable if their source was reliable. But I don't feel that this guy friend would have any reason to lie to me either. I really like him and I need to know whether to pursue this or not!
oh and just clarifying... he doesn't know I"m interested yet...

Tell him your interested...be up front about your concerns...let him know your sincere and don't want to be a rebound...but let him know ASAP.

let him know it could be great--if hes as good of a friend as you say he is it will not bother him in the least bit to know that you are interested in him even if he does not feel the same feelings as you do--you never know what you have till its gone

Are you friends with his "ex-girlfriend"? If so ask her where they stand from her point of view. If she says they are just friends then tell him how you feel. If she says there is more to it, leave it alone.
