Shortly - they don't. And I have had both a cat and a dog as pets. There is just no basis for comparison, they are different pets. I love both of them, having each of them has been great. And then, a couple of my friends own both, and they love both, and have no complaint of either.

It all depends what you are looking for. A cat is quiet and peaceful, which I find right now very rewarding (after a full day at work, I definitely like some rest in the evening); a dog is energetic and noisier, which I dearly loved as a kid - running around together was plenty of fun; if I have the time, I wouldn't mind doing it again. But right now, a dog would be the worse choice for me - not in the last place because he would have to stay all alone at home all day long, and when I get home, exhausted, I wouldn't have energy enough to show him affection in the way he needs it.

Cats do not make worse pets than dogs. In a lot of cases, cats make better pets depending on what you are looking for and a persons life style.

They are way better even though I have a dog and no cats at the moment. You can leave them and they will eat and use a litter box and a dog needs someone to let them out. Plus most dogs will not eat out of their bag, but will pig out and eat it all up unless you ration them. Cats aren't as affectionate isn't true. It depends on the cat and some dogs are more standoffish too. Its like comparing apples to bananas. Each has its good points, but don't knock cat ownership until you have tried it!

A dog's goal in life is to please it's master. It will love you with all of it's heart and always be loyal. (as long as you are loving and good to it) They make wonderful watch dogs! You can train them to obey you. If you talk to them like you would a friend, you will be amazed how the learn to understand you. Hope you choose a dog, give it lots of love, NEVER HIT IT, don't play rough with it untill it grows up, spend time training it and you will have a wonderful pet that loves you!!

Cats could care less about you..unless They want attention. They will quit using the litter box and go all over the place. They will claw up your furniture unless you declaw them. Can't teach them a damn thing.

The only good thing about cats over dogs is that you can leave them alone for a few days with food and water. Dogs have to be tended to every day.

I wouldn't say either are worse or better. It's just the more popular opinion that dogs are better. Cats and dogs both have great qualiuties, but also have cons. Neither though are actually, "better".

They don't. I'm not a dog person,though, especially if it's an inside dog. I don't like pets inside,but I would have a cat inside before I would a dog.

I have to differ on this. Dogs need company, walks at least 3 times a day. If your out at work it will just wreck the place, and s.h.i.t all over. They need constant attention. Cats, are free spirits, clean, will sleep for most of the day. Leave it in and it will use a litter tray,[better than cleaning the floor all the time]. And if your'e out most of the time you can let it out on it's own, or leave it in and it will sleep. Well, you wanted a definate answer!!!

i don't think that they make worse pets then dogs, i guess that you just really have to be a cat person.

Cats have their own personalities and they don't have owners the own everyone. Dogs are loyal and obey their owners. they understand works sounds and ques. Cats do not cats only listen for sounds and want to play with everything. Cats are not loyal they are just there to do what they want.

I will say definitively that this question is way out of line on a cat list.
