Is the Plastic statue listening? Or do you think your Skydaddy is hiding inside the statue?

It's called visualization. The plastic is just there to help people find a mental connection. The plastic itself is just that: plastic.

It's kind of like the American flag. IT's just cloth, but it helps people visualize something.

contrary to what you claim, christians do not pray to a plastic statue. Christians pray to a God that they believe to exist. You may very well choose not to believe in any type of supreme being, on the other hand you should not knock the ones that do.

Most Christians do not, since Protestants believe that praying to a statue violates the second commandment. Only Roman Catholics do.

You might want to do a little research before posting a question if you don't want to sound ignorant.

What silly questions, I pray to the Living God, the God of all creation, the one who made the sun, moon, and stars. The one who set the boundries for the oceans, and knows every hair on my head. I would never pray to a piece of plastic or wood. My God does not hide anywhere. He is omnipresent.

Skydaddy! That's hilarious!! I never thought about it much. How the heck can they know the true image of their true god. He might not look like that plastic representation at all.

More baiting....

We do not pray to idols...we pray to our Heavenly Father in Jesus' name...I think you know that.

By the way, Jesus is no longer on the the cross, so I don't agree with having crucifixions hung up all over the place. I don't believe that IT protects me....only Jesus can do that, not a "plastic statue". I do, however, have crosses (no body) up on my walls b/c the cross reminds me of the sacrifice of my Lord and savior. Who is your savior?

It's called iconography. The Catholic and Orthodox traditions are big on it.

According to the RC and Orthodox, it's not about praying "to" an icon, it's about praying "through" an icon to God, Jesus, Mary, etc.

Some Protestant traditions think it's idol worship.

Becuase some people need something they can see, feel, etc. The bible says do not pray to anything created by man or by God.

Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
