think you might have a certain thing wrong with you, then perform all these other tests to rule out other problems before testing to determine that you have the problem they thought you did in the first place? Sounds scammy to me, money grubbing doctors.

Actually, it's because they're afraid of missing something and getting sued. Something like half the tests that doctors perform are simply for malpractice protection.

And most doctors don't get paid for tests. If they work at a hospital, they get paid a salary.

Dr's earn an extra income by sending patients to a particular imaging center or referring the patient to another specialist. I know because I'm an imaging rep. A doctor can get thousands of dollars a month depending on the volume of exams ordered.

Maybe just to rule out possibilities and to make sure they don't miss anything?

What I'd like to really know is: if I make an appointment for a certain time, why do they make me wait for 20 min. until the see me?!

there aren't that many kind of illnesses you can get...

And doctors stay informed of which diseases are out there at all times, so they know what you're most likely to have catched. So, they start to see if you got that, and if you don't, they start thinking about what you could have caught.

They order the test to rule out other diseases that mighty mimick the obvious. Sometimes the obvious diagnosis is not always the right diagnosis.

If you have a real medical problem...wouldn't you want all the basis covered properly...they are not able to treat you before they rule out all the other issues that you may have going on...may be that paranoia is one of them.

No, it's better for them to double check and be sure of the diagnosis rather than be wrong and get sued and have to raise prices again so they can afford the insurance.

All allopathic doctors know is drugs and sugery. they do not know how to heal the body, just mask the symptoms. when it comes to nutrition the US is ranked 37th in the world.

Because some illnesses have the same symptoms as other illnesses. They have to make sure that they are treating you for the right thing.
