A great deal of juvenile, nonsensical and vulgar language and content appears on this site in both the questions and answers. What can or should be done about this? Where may those looking for serious exchange of views go to avoid this or is the entire Internet simply vulnerable to this type of participation?

It's not this site or the Internet, but people in general. A vast majority use vulgar language because it's accepted, they can express themselves in a more emphasized way in which pretty words cannot, and most people don't think it's wrong at all because they're just words. I understand completely if you don't like vulgar language, and don't want to hear it. In today's society, that would be difficult to find. But if you think that no one should speak it just because you don't personally want to hear it, then that is wrong. The majority doesn't care. It's not your place to tell people what's right from wrong, or that they should live the way you do. A world where people never said those words might be cool, who knows, but that's not the world you live in and you need to accept it for what it is, not try to control it.

You may have to go to a different site. This one can be a sewage site at times. But if you're in it to help people, there's plenty of opportunity.
