I mean what about the environment made their skin color change or their eyes to slant in various directions? Obviously, these are just variances in evolution....

These are not the same question... these are different questions based on the answers I'm getting in the other questions. This line of thinking is supposed to prove people that evolution is a valid option.

Well, supposedly, everyone came from Africa. So... by that logic, we were all initially black. And somehow, moving into the various other parts of the world, body styles changed. I think the question is, why? I don't see much effeciency differences in the bodies of man... Really, the difference genetically between the various races is phenomenally small. That means that it would take extremely small amounts of evolutionary intervention for change. But...

Why would it happen? Theoretically, the variances would have to promote something, or else the status quo would be changed. It's a good question. Hopefully someone on here will have a scientific answer.

Can you explain why a very short person that is married to a shorter person would have a child that is twice their height and blond when they are both of brown or black hair? Just something in the genes. Same thing with those that moved to other parts of the world. There are some things that we cannot totally explain at this time but even the scientists say from the dna, they know and can track the exodus of man from the middle east and everybody on Earth can be traced back to that region. So how do you explain that? I believe what God says whether man agrees or not or whether science agrees or not as science has been proven wrong more than once. There are different gene pools and if we were alive a thousand years from now here on this Earth, I would guess we could not recognize those from our own family as they would have changed that much.

The primary reason is the sun. In areas near the equator, both skin and eyes developed darker to block out more of the harmful rays. In areas away from the equator, the skin and eyes become lighter to absorb more of the useful energy from the sun (necessary to process vitamin D).

Eye shape and body shape differences are more difficult to explain. It could be simply a matter of region tastes where people with the fashionable shape were more commonly selected for breeding. Or there could be a more utilitarian purpose based on the geography and the lifestyle best suited for it.

Intermarriage between different races produced the variety in the human species, and, over many generations, the genetics of a group changes, adapting to the environment. For example, people who are native to Northern latitudes where it is very cold are genetically predisposed to be shorter and more compact, to preserve body heat, and those who live near the equator and in very hot climates have become genetically taller and thinner, to more easily disperse heat. All of these developments take hundreds or thousands of years, and other animals besides humans exhibit these adaptational skills, as well. If a species cannot adapt to its environment this way, it will not survive.

It's adaptation to different environments. For example, People who are native to Africa are closer to the equator so they receive much more direct sunlight than say those who are native to Ireland. Their dark skin is a protective feature against the damaging effects of this direct sunlight. However those further north (Ireland and the Netherlands) have much lighter skin tone because they are subjected to far less direct sunlight and do not require such protection. This is just one example of many, i hope it's helpful.

Natural selection tells us that organisms that are better suited for their environments survive.

Environmental factors are a part of how evolution works. As people moved north, those who happened to be born with lighter skin would be better off for survival in cooler climates...so over time, if we could watch the change, we'd start to see more light skinned people in northern climates than darker skinned. It would be the opposite for those that moved south.

ok, well first, white people have light skin because we developed in a cold cloudy climate where there wasn't much sun so we needed light sking to absorb vitamin D, our noses have more of a bridge to breathe cooler air easier, the pigment thing goes the same for our eyes and hair, our hair grows long to keep us warm, black peoples hair grows outward to keep the sun off of them and that also why it has a different texture, the skin is darker because of the heavy sun and there noses are flatter to breather the hotter humid air easier, now asians have an extra piece of fat over there eyes because they develped in the desert and that was meant to help keep the sun out of their eyes but it got cold at night so they needed long straight hair to keep them warm, all the rest stem from them, hope this helped, and i'm not making this stuff up, i've read up on it and it was also on the history channel, i'm just a big science and history buff,
also that girl was wrong that people get smaller and more compact in cold weather they get bigger to produce more body heat, humans used to be a lot taller because our diet was different back then

I'm a Christian, so I believe that God designed everyone, but the scientists say otherwise. As the people walked the earth, and made civilizations in different areas, they adapted to the environments and their skin did the same. As did their bone structure.

I'm asking myself the same question but still got some few answers. I'd say that people just adapt (after a few generations) to their environment to survive, like black people who coloured their skin to survive the heat. I don't know why Asian have eyes like that but it was just to survive their environment, you would have to ask somebody who's specialized in history of civilization.

A lot depended on the food source. People who lived on fruit had to be taller. People who lived on potatoes became shorter.

People that lived on bugs developed round eyes. Ditto with fish eaters.
