I think abortion is a complex issue and for teens its even more complex.

The problem is that it's a bad answer to an even worse question that has no good answer.

First, should teens be having sex in the first place? With STDs and the possiblity of pregnancy, it's not the smartest thing in the world.

Second, if it's going to happen anyway then there are other ways to pleasure each other beyond just that one particular act. Pick something else.

Third, if you feel you have to take part in that particular act and there is no way around it then think a little bit and take precausions on both sides.

Putting the moral implications aside because that's like talking apples and oranges when not everyone believes the same thing, the problem I have with abortion is the lack of personal responsibility that it allows. Hey you want to have sex as a teen, it's stupid but go ahead but you should be made to be responsible for your actions. Abortion is just a quick fix that lets both the mother and the father off the hook. I'd rather see laws in place that for the parents to take responsibility for their actions and if for some reason they can't then it should move up to their parents.

The down side to this thinking though is that you still are talking about a life and the way an unwanted child would be treated by parents that don't want it. And adoption is not really a good answer.

So it's just a rotten issue all the way around. And then if you do through morality into it, it just goes wild from there.

Well I think for most people abortion is not a good choice, I grew up with girls who had abortions in their teens and all of them carried alot of pain and regret from it, there were a few who used it as a form of birth control and later realized that they wished they had used birth control like the pill or condoms. Really the only time I think abortion is a better choice would be for incest or rape. However only 2% of abortions are for that reason. Educate yourself or your friend about abortion and what it really is and hope for the best choice which I would say is no abortion especially in teens when it is too much to understand the long-term pain it will cause the mother who eventually grows up to understand what a bad choice they made. hope that helps. melissa. P.S. also the girls that I knew who had abortions in their teens got pregnant less than a year later and had the babies!!

I think if they take the responsibility to have sex, and get pregnant, they should have to take care of the baby. Although, I feel sorry for a baby that is born a mother that considers abortion as she probably will not be a very good mother. If however, the teen was raped and ended up pregnant, I would understand, but would not condone as adoption is also an option that she could go for.

I don't believe that teenaged girls should be "punished" by being forced into parenthood. This strategy punishes not only the girl but the baby as well.

It's not a form of birth control and should not be used as such. It's a very serious decision.

I think it should remain available to girls who, through their own ignorance, have made an honest mistake and wish to correct it. I will continue to defend the Roe v. Wade decision.

Pregancy and childbirth are harder on the teenage body than abortion. And it does seem unfair that it is really only girls who must face this decision but that's nature for you.

However, remember that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". I hope that teenagers of both sexes will keep this in mind.

I think teens shouldn't even be in sexual relationships. And abortion is the easy way out for them. If they're old enough to have sex then they are old enough to take responsibility for their actions. And whether it's a teen or adult, abortion is still taking an innocent life.

it is a lousy form of birth control. If you have unprotected sex then you need to take responsiblity. you could give the baby up for adoption, abortion is not the only choice. You cant do certain things without expecting consequences, especially when it comes to sex. Take responsibilty for your actions and dont take the easy way out. Now, if you were raped, you can still give the baby up for adoption. Remember abortion is not the only way out.

I think that most abortions are a shame. They happen and need to be done in many cases. But frankly they happen all too often as an overdue form of birth control. Planning ahead and self control are a thing of the past sadly.

i think that abortion is horrible. but in some cases maybe younger girls that would be completely incapable of taking care of a child, it is acceptable. but if u r just selfish n get an abortion cuz u dont want the kid, i think they should consider having the baby n letting another couple who may be longing to have a child n cant ,adopt it.

Every abortion kills an innocent unborn child. The age of the mother and the circumstances of her life are never the baby's fault, and the baby never deserves to die. For more information, see:

I think teens should stop having sex and realize sex isn't a game. It's sickening the way that people use abortion as a form of birth control. Stay abstinent or at least be smart enough to get on birth control or use condoms if you are going to have sex.
