The news is full of stories regarding child sexual abuse and paedophilia, especially by people in responsible positions like school teachers, scout masters, religious leaders and so on.
Which type of child sexual abuse do you consider to be the worst?
In my view, all child abusers are evil, but by far the worst is child sexual abuse by a religious leader like a priest, vicar, or preacher, because religious people tend to have unfaltering blind faith in God, and God’s representatives.
Religious people only seem to see total goodness in their God and the Bible, and those leaders who promote such work, and so any abuse by people in religious positions should be recognised as one of the most horrific, if not the most horrific, crimes against humanity.

No, sexual abuse by a PARENT would be the worst. Parents are supposed to provide safety, and trust, love, and compassion. THAT has to be the most horrific position to take advantage of. Parental abuse of any kind.

I humbly disagree with the assertion that priests/vicars are the worst. Regardless of how we, as adults, view them, children don't have the same awe and understanding of epistomology.
Instead, I firmly believe that incest is the most vile and evil form of child sexual abuse. A parent, grandparent, brother, uncle or even close trusted family friend who defiles and betrays a child has sold his soul to the devil.
Closely behind that are men who stalk children in their own neighborhoods or who prey on the friends of their own children.
I'm not much of a fan of teachers who betray a relationship with children that is far more sacred to a child than is the relationship with a minister or clergyman only seen once a week. The teacher sees that child every day and has developed a very authoritarian relationship that should be above all reproach.
I put the clergy way down the list of psychotic, evil predators. At least most of their actions are preventable by never leaving your child alone with these men. But how do you NOT leave your child alone with your own husband, father, or the child's teacher?

All forms of child abuse are evil. Statistics show that the VAST majority of such abuse is committed by adults in TRUST such as the ones you mentioned. It makes no differences whether they are holy priests or non-holy parents, they are in trust over the children. It is not the stranger on the street your kid has to be afraid of (they do have to watch them, though); it the parents, the grandparents, the older siblings, the uncles, the aunts, other relatives, the trusted family friend, the priest you must watch.
Sad to say, child abuse is a relic or vestigial behavior of our primate past when our ancestors were non-human primates. Apes & chimps & other primates have sexual encounters with their offspring & younger ones, but that does not mean that humans have to do that. We have evolved to a higher level of behaviour & the faster we can eliminate child abuse the better.

Substitutionary sexual abuse (a parent or trusted adult treating a child as a mate) is the worst I've ever seen. It sets up a child to expect to be treated poorly by their mate as an adult, and prevents them from, as an adult, seeing clearly who will hurt them, and who won't.
The worst part is...this type of abuse is rarely percieved as abuse. It's considered "normal parenting" by some, training for adulthood in the worst offenders/enablers. Seldom does this type of abuse go into physical abuse, leaving the child with no "handle" to help them get a grip on what really happened to them.

I totally agree with yellow belly. There is no abuse of any kind worse than abuse from family. And just because someone may say they are doing the will of God doesn't necessary mean that they are from God. People who do things like that to a helpless child are sick!!!!

The worst kind of child sexual abuse is the kind involving children and sexual abuse (in other words, all of it). Any one who commits such a crime should be tortured to death.

I agree that in religious situations, they are the worst. These people are not Christians...they portray the life of being Christian to get into trusting positions...to be able to be alone with children. They WILL pay dearly for their sin.

All of it is bad sexual abuse is really bad but i think emotional/mental abuse i have a friend who was emotionally/mentally and physically abused by her father for many years. She is in her 40's now the physical abuse she had learned to deal with but she is still Suffering from the emotional/mental abuse.

I believe that child abuse is child abuse; whether the abuser is a priest or a parent, it's not any less damaging to the child.
