First of all your engine does not need to be cleaned, doing so can cause many undesired problems. If you are insistent on using cola, then Coca cola will work the best as it is the most concentrated. Baking soda paste (couple tablespoons of baking soda and a few drops of water) will work better. By far the best thing you can do is to buy a battery terminal brush from your auto zone or equivalent.

Regular coke is supposed to clean battery terminals, but I always liked to use a baking soda solution because it works better. As for cleaning your engine go to an auto parts store and get some engine cleaner, follow the instructions and your engine will be sparkling. Use the Soda and your engine will look like new because you'll have had to replace it after the soda damaged the components. ( pouring soda over and engine is like sugar in the gas tank)

Baking soda and water works the best -- then rinse down the drain or gutter immediately. Coke will work but not as well. Coke, however is very good at getting bugs off of your hood/grill/bumper. Just soak a cloth or washmit with Coke and saturate the buggy area and let set for a half hour or so. Then wash your car as you would regularly. The bugs wash off easily, and it will not hurt your paint. But think what Coke does to your stomach. Good Luck.

Coke is, but why don't you just buy a cheap box of baking soda? Two tablespoons of baking soda in one cup of water is very effective at neutralizing battery acid. Plus you don't get the sticky residue that cola leaves behind. It's also cheaper. You will have the baking soda on hand in the future, but the cola will be gone.

Coca Cola is the best for cleaning battery acid. But it does not clean off your car engine.

Mythbusters actually did this on one of their shows, proving that it's great for battery acid but not for engine cleaning.

Actually...used as a quick fix...a strong solution of baking soda is far better than coke products...couple loaded tablespoons in a quart of water...swirl to mix and then pour on your terminals...let sit...maybe brush terminals with an old tooth brush and then rinse with clean water. I would NOT use cola on my engine. "Gunk"...at the auto parts store...follow directions.
