Huguenots were French protestants of the 16th century (the first.) We were not well liked and were persecuted for our religious beliefs. Being burned alive did not sit well with us so we fled to various parts of the world. Does the Huguenot spirit live on in you? Are you out there?

Like the originals I am still much inclined to follow my own way.

Yes, Catholism didn't take well to Protestants as they interpreted the Bible rather than following it verbatim. Today, in literature classes, and I'm an English teacher, that's called critical analysis. I am totally there. What heresy.

I'm happy to hear from a self minded person, so long as your faith or beliefs aren't criminal.lol. Thanks for answering and have a good day.

Well, I'm afraid I must disappoint you. While I've got ancestors who were in France during the 16th century, they were not Huguenots. Instead they were Catholics, and when they left a century later, it wasn't because they were threatened with being burned alive. Probably a good thing, all in all. That being said, my ancestors were certainly independent, stubborn, ornery, faith-filled people, much like the Huguenots, and that spirit still lives on with me today. I like to follow my own way too, and don't take kindly to people who try to control what I think or believe.

If you believe in total predestination then is there any point in praying? How can anyone do anything to further themselves or seek the truth if it is all predestined?

Also, FYI, The Roman Catholic church bases it's worship on the Jewish faith(as the apostles were Jews) and the way that we worship comes from scripture, and pretty much comes down to us from the early christian church the first believers in Christ. Including the washing of hands, use of holy oils, Commemoration of the last supper.
