no - they return stuff to the family, unless the family wants it to be buried with their loved one.
there might be some thieves in the industry, but not that I've run into
more likely for someone off the street to come in and steal jewelry off the corpse(s)

No, if even a rumor of that gets out your business is finished. Most funeral home operators take a videotaped inventory of the possessions before and afterward to prove that such theft did not take place. They are very, very, very careful about this.
