i had stored this knife and others, in leather sheaths, in a supposedly moisture prrof rubbermaid container, but somehow after 3-4 years of sitting there in the box, whatever mold spores were present decided to try their luck at leather. everything else in this container was platic or metal, so.... only the leather on the ka-bar and other leather sheaths got moldy....
I was in the army (combat engineers) for a few years and i do know something or two about taking care of kit...i have a lot of camping gear and surplus army kit....but this mold thing just surprised me. i've never had any mold grow on kit before.

If you don't know where to buy a knife in Utah, you should probably hang it up now, because I'm not going to help you. Okay, fine... I'll give you some advice. Go get your telephone book and look in the yellow pages under "gun shops." Most gun shops also sell knives. If they don't, look under "hunting" or "military surplus." Obviously you don't comprehend how to use the internet to search for retailers, so I suppose suggesting Google would be a bad idea.

I don't know how mold would get on something like that, but I'd try using some lukewarm water and a soft rag, then polish it.
